DECATUR - Five Eisenhower High School students were arrested outside the school Wednesday afternoon, after a 17-year-old woman allegedly shoved an assistant principal who was trying to break up a fight, and other teens allegedly charged at a police officer.

According to reports by Decatur police officers, at 2:58 p.m. Wednesday there were 150 to 200 young people on 16th Street, "assaulting each other and fighting."
There were several police officers on the scene "trying to quell the mob," but "the persons that made up the mob ignored police commands and continued to fight."

The five students have been suspended from school and will be recommended to the school board for expulsion, said Debbie Alexander, spokeswoman for the Decatur School District. She said three of the students transferred into the district March 4.

Alexander said the incident began when two groups of female students argued in the school parking lot, immediately after school was dismissed for the day.
"The incident will be fully investigated as we do not tolerate nor condone behavior such as this from our students," Eisenhower Principal April Hicklin said.
Decatur police Sgt. Jason Walker said two school employees reportedly were shoved or battered. He said there is a possibility more young people will be arrested.

One of the teens accused of charging at the officer, a 14-year-old male, was later arrested on weapons charges when he was found wearing a set of metal knuckles.

The only reason for posting this, is that the last time something like this happened, Jesse Jackson showed up.  He was arrested while he was here.  :whatever:

How's that hopey-changey working out for YOU, Illinois?

And before I left SoCal, it seemed like black-on-brown riots in the schools was getting to be a near-daily occurrence.
