I clicked Not Sure, as I try to remember to look up at the top of the screen to see if I have a message, but I rarely get any, so I become apathetic towards checking it. 

I get an email update when I have one, and that usually alerts me.

Riight; there is a feature here that alerts one that one has gotten a personal message.

Go to one's profile.

On the left hand side, it says "personal message options."

One then checks "show a pop-up when you receive new message?"

This way, every time one gets a new message, a harmless, utterly innocuous pop-up pops up, telling one.

Well, the deal is, people have varying e-mail habits.

Me, I have this clarebootheluce@gmail.com account, where messages from here are routed there, but I check with clare only every fourth or fifth day, hoping to see an angry primitive has left a message.

It's not worth checking with clare every day, much less several times a day.

'm not sure which email I used to sign up here.  At one time I had over a dozen email accounts, used to sign up for sites that required registration, like newspapers, etc.
