Perry Activates "Contingency Plan"
« on: March 17, 2010, 08:11:57 AM »
Quote
AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry moved Tuesday to step up Texas' law enforcement presence along the Mexico border to handle the threat of spillover violence from escalating drug cartel warfare in cities like Juarez and Matamoros.

The governor also continued his call for additional federal assistance, saying he was activating the state violence contingency plan in the meantime because “with the safety of Texans on the line, we can't afford to wait.”

U.S. Department of Homeland Security spokesman Matt Chandler said officials would review Perry's request for Predator-style surveillance over the Texas border, but he cautioned that the Obama administration is not seeing evidence of spillover violence warranting a stepped-up U.S. response.

Officials at the State Department and DHS continued to publicly play down suggestions the three victims in Juarez were targeted.

“It looks like a case of mistaken identity,” said a DHS official, speaking on background. “It looks like these killers were going after a car that looked very similar to the car the consulate folks were traveling in.”   :bs:  The FBI is hinting that the hitmen 'misunderstood Spanish' and went to the wrong party.

Besides asking for the Predator drones, Perry since January 2009 has pressed for 1,000 National Guard personnel to support Texas' law enforcement efforts. The request submitted by four border state governors shortly after Obama's inauguration last year languishes at the White House without a presidential decision.

Los Aztecas, who are blamed for deadly attacks on U.S. consular staff and their families last weekend in northern Mexico, are violent hit men who work for the powerful Juarez drug gang.

Los Aztecas hit the headlines after they were blamed for the gruesome massacre of 15 youths at a party in Ciudad Juarez in late January. One of my employees was asked to play at this party, but he passed.)

Mexican authorities also said they were behind the massacre one year ago of 20 prisoners, who allegedly belonged to the rival Sinaloa drug gang, in the Ciudad Juarez jail.

Azteca members are known to have gone into Mexico to murder, kidnap or commit other crimes for the cartel, then dash back to the U.S. to hide from Mexico's military, according to U.S. authorities.

“My theory at this point is it was a reaction by the narcos to announcements of greater involvement of Americans in the drug war,” said Gustavo de la Rosa, a Chihuahua state human rights official who was forced to flee from there because of death threats.  In response to growing border violence, — nearly 50 people were killed over the weekend —the State Department issued a new travel warning Monday that urges Americans to avoid the northern Mexican cities of Juárez, Matamoros, Monterrey, Nuevo Laredo, Nogales and Tijuana.

Could that have had anything to do with the Mexican military helicopter that crossed the border?

What helicopter?  "The Obama administration is not seeing evidence of spillover."

This makes the repeated Mexican military incursions all the more abominable, especially since U.S. officials know they're occurring. Last year Judicial Watch obtained Homeland Security records documenting 226 incursions by Mexican government personnel into the United States between 1996 and 2005. Obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, the annual intelligence summaries of "Mexican Government Incidents" were designated as "limited official use" by the Department of Homeland Security requiring "special protection against unauthorized or inadvertent disclosure."

Sheriff Gonzalez said they have information the helicopter was hovering over a drug cartel member’s home in the area.

There's been a cartel war for the past couple years; Sinaloa's determined to take over everywhere. I haven't crossed the Rio Grande in 7 years; this is serious shit.  :censored: Obama.

Its gotten and is getting a lot worse, its actually getting so bad that the PRI could win the next election because of the failures of the past two PAN Presidents to reign in the drug violence.

In one weekend.

In a relatively confined area.

The "fence" that wasn't.

Quote
"Up to now those politicians, bureaucrats and reporters could accept claims by the Department of Homeland Security that it had built 670 miles of fence without fear of contradiction."
Spencer said. "Well, the era of plausible deniability is over."
ABP's maps show that the DHS built about 266 miles of new fencing (assuming the completion of work being done in Texas) – not 670 miles. Eighty miles of what DHS claims they built is ten-foot mat fencing that has been in place for more than twelve years and is easily climbed. About 320 miles of the DHS "fence" is actually vehicle barriers that people can step over, walk through or drive over using ramps.

Another eye-opening site.  Videos from hidden cameras show border invasions, by the hundreds.  DHS has blocked access to this site from dhs.gov computers.

Texas Senators urge President Obama to visit the border
By KGNS News

Story Created: Mar 17, 2010

Story Updated: Mar 18, 2010

U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn are asking for help.
Today the Texas senators urged President Obama again to take action on the escalating violence along our border.
In a joint letter to the President, the senators wrote that the spillover violence in Texas is real and it is escalating.
They also wrote that Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement are more regularly engaged with gunmen associated with drug cartels.
The senators asked for regular joint intelligence briefings regarding ongoing violence in Mexico and its potential impact on U.S. Security.
At the end of their letter, the senators extended an invitation to the President to visit the border region, saying such a visit would draw national attention to a national priority.

Probably just like the "great" Ronald Reagan did back in the mid 80s......... (For all of the Conservatives that consider Ronald Reagan a "great" president.) What is the difference between in him and 0bama in this instance?????

2 million versus 20 million.  That's a hell of a difference right there.

Well, so far, Ronnie signed band-aid legislation back in 1986 which didn't solve the illegal problem at all. Obama hasn't signed anything yet, AFAIK.

At the time, it was thought that the other actions Reagan signed into law would discourage illegals.  As we saw, the powers that be (of either party) weren't at all interested in ENFORCING the laws that were passed when Reagan signed them.

Well, now that you mention it, Congress does have a disturbing habit of reinventing the immigration wheel every 20 years or so. Kinda began in 1945, continued with LBJ in 1965 (which REALLY blew the door off the hinges), readdressed yet one more time in 1986 under Ronnie, then GWB tried to shove the last POS bill down our throats in 2006.

If history is any lesson here, it ain't Obama's turn to sign yet more POS legislation. But he's such a POS, he might well go out of turn.

You didn't catch Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) on O'Reilly last night, did you?  (O'Reilly was out--Laura Ingraham was filling in.)  Also, see below:

I saw it. He gave me the impression that he changed his vote on HCR for a push by Lord Zero on immigration.  More Chicago style politics.

No, I don't watch O'Reilly since he bloviates so much.

Okay, so Gutierrez wants to stand there like an idiot with a chip on his shoulder and he's tossed a cookie for his vote. Statement released day before yesterday that's intended to mollify him.  :whatever:

That's kinda like the schoolyard wimp going up against the playground bully and having the playground bully promise in exchange for allowing the wimp to be the bully's stooge, he'll not extort the wimp's lunch money.

Gutierrez is a tool.
