I am so very sad that greenbriar hasn't poked her head out of her lair to rejoin her fellow moonbats at the DUmp.  I would have been amused by her thoughts on this topic, I am certain.

$15K per student is more than enough in "elite" private schools.  The difference between the "elite" private schools and the public urban cesspools is the parents.  If a kid has a crackhead mother and an absentee father, more than likely said kid will NEVER earn a decent grade or pass a standardized test.  Sure, there are the few exceptions, the kids who excel against all odds, usually because they were mentored by some guy who looks a lot like Morgan Freeman.  But beyond the Movie of the Week, that almost never happens, because all the mentors are at home posting on DU.

The moonbats would read what I just wrote and call me a racist.  But I know that different areas of the country have different racial makeups in their urban cesspools.  Those crackhead mothers are overwhelmingly white in some parts of the country.  There you go.... I exercised my white guilt and posted a disclaimer.

Well....I wonder, plus, doesn't proud2Blibkansan work in the KCMO school district?  Part of this decision includes firing 289 teachers, and 70 administrators........perhaps she got her "pink slip" today.......

Oh yeah, there'd be a giant pity party at the DUmp if that happened.

That's too bad, we have enough idiots already, without trucking any extra ones in from Kansas.

I've been keeping my eye on Skins's island for that very reason, to see if the Die alte Sau got what she so richly deserves.

No details yet, either way.

Don't worry. She will still be securely attached to the public tit. They will pile more and more school employees into the remaining schools and central administration. They will claim cuts when they eliminate open postions, requested positions, and hoped-for positions, just like the rationale democrats use when they call smaller increases budget cuts.

There's interesting coverage of the meeting in today's Kansas City Star. Not surprisingly, they made it a racial issue. Somehow the nine-member board has four white members, approximately one for each white student in the school system. They all voted in favor of the proposal, along with one of the five black members.

Even if you were to *****foot around and use only the best of PC terms, you wouldn't be allowed to discuss the "real" problem with the schools.

True.  I am posting a link to some background from Cato Institute, well worth the read IMHO.

Money And School Performance:
Lessons from the Kansas City Desegregation Experiment
by Paul Ciotti

Paul Ciotti lives in Los Angeles and writes about education.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Executive Summary

For decades critics of the public schools have been saying, "You can't solve educational problems by throwing money at them." The education establishment and its supporters have replied, "No one's ever tried." In Kansas City they did try. To improve the education of black students and encourage desegregation, a federal judge invited the Kansas City, Missouri, School District to come up with a cost-is-no-object educational plan and ordered local and state taxpayers to find the money to pay for it.

I read every damn word of the link.....a judge did the same thing in several low country counties in SC....same results....and people who don't have any first hand experience with such situations are still trying to tell everyone what's wrong....or right.

My son goes to a predominately black high school and he comes home fussing everyday about the black students won't behave and act like they got some sense in class.....and he is in the honors classes (pretty much the standard classes when I went 50 years ago) where he doesn't have to contend with the worst of the lot.

Maybe they should out law private schools and homeschooling altogether for a few years...start busing kids across state lines to boarding schools to achieve desegragation.... :-) Then we'll see how much the liberal elite likes it.

If you can't raise one group to a higher standard...lower the other groups down to that standard.....the dumbing down of America.
