Snow-bound Wednesday
« on: February 24, 2010, 05:02:02 AM »
We've got 10" to 12" on the ground from this storm.  All of the schools in the area are closed, as is The Heiress' daycare.  I threw out my back on Saturday, and I have a chiropractic appointment at 9:45 AM . . . I might cancel that.  All depends how quickly the complex plows out the lots.

No snow here in far North Central Texas. It all went South of here. It's a little chilly, though. I need to go get a blood test today, but nothing much else going on except working on a couple of PCs.

Rain along the coast, but was snowing at home when I left for work.  Don't know if it'll turn to rain at my place until afternoon at least.  Move inland or north 20 miles from my house, the snow forecast goes from 6-8 inches to 12-16 inches.

That's about how much we'll get when all is said and done.  My wife dug my car out, and she said that the snow is pretty heavy and wet.  I would have done it, but I had two different doctors as well as my chiropractor tell me that it would greatly aid my recovery to not do any lifting or bending at the waist.

Sunny but cold here along the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Supposed to get rain later this afternoon, changing to snow this evening/into tonight. Which means schools will be closed tomorrow. It's crazy down here...rain? Schools closed. A little fog? Schools closed. God forbid it's flurrying, schools closed for a week. And while the girl child gets excited about no school, she's going to be one unhappy camper when school runs through the summer to make up for all the days she's been off so far. She's going to leave 3rd grade on a Friday, and start 4th grade the following Monday the ways things are going so far.

The snow hit further south than me as well yesterday, and I couldn't be more pleased.  Currently 28, high projected to 48 and sunny.  The only thing that sucks about it is that we are supposed to have rain Friday through Sunday, and it will be sunny until then.  It sure would be nice to have some good weather one weekend.  My yard is feeling quite neglected.

We seem to have a light dusting in Madison, nothing too bad but the garbage pick up is running late.  Later than usual.

I'm not even going to try to compete in the weather department with all you guys.

I was going to have my coworker come with me yesterday and have us both request overtime.  However, he has decided that he doesn't want to work overtime right now because he has to go home and help with his little boy at home.  I understand that he wants to spend time with his kid, but I know he has just as much work that isn't getting done as I do.  I've decided to give it a week, and then if I still feel like I need over time, I'm just going to suck it up and request it.  If my boss decides to shift some of my cases to my co-worker as a result, well, that will be his fault for not coming with me.   :evillaugh:

No moisture of any type falling out of the sky, but it's 37 and it's extremely gloomy. Rain is supposed to start at any time switching to snow showers tonight and tomorrow.

Heard yesterday, that we have had only had 3 days of sunshine in the last 30.

I understand now why my son hated being stationed in the Seattle area. We're not used to all this gloomy wetness.  :(

Did I mention I'm tired of this cold weather?  TIRED!  I have a pile of parts and I want to spend my weekends out in the driveway working on my car.  I'm miserable being stuck inside.

Also, I'm not having any luck findind the Wheeler Dealer's episode where they swapped out a set of tie-rod ends.

We're at 27 with a chill of 16 degrees!!!.....and snow flurries.

Snow flurries predicted all day tomorrow too....

There's a rumor that we might see some sun this weekend.

I saw sunlight this morning between 8am and 9:30, and then it started snowing for the next three hours.

I've been digesting the medical news I've received yesterday. Surgery will be sometime in April. I won't know a specific date until Tricare approves it. Then, I called my neurologist to follow up on why she hasn't returned my phone calls since January. Anyways, she tells me that the surgery will help forestall any progression in this disease I now have called Spinal Cerebellar Ataxia (non specific variety). So, short story version is that I'm wheelchair bound. Pretty much, I have a slow progressing variety, so I could easily die of old age or other things before I get wheel chair bound. I guess that's good. However, this news explains a lot of the problems I've been having, why I've been deteriorating and the past surgeries really haven't helped me get better. If anything, they've helped with the pain and possibly slowed the progression of this disease. It's been an interesting week, so far.  :(
