Spotted a window decal. What does it mean???
« on: February 22, 2010, 11:18:44 AM »
I cannot figure this one out:

"My kid can roost your honor student."

"Roost?"  "ROOST???"  WTF does that mean?  I can't find anything about what the saying means.

And no, it wasn't "roast."  It was definitely "roost."

Maybe the school mascot had something to do with birds.  The Roosevelt Junior High Fighting Ghost Chickens, or something.
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

come home to roost
To have repercussions or aftereffects, especially unfavorable ones: The consequences of your mistake will eventually come home to roost.
rule the roost Informal
To be in charge; dominate: In this house my parents rule the roost.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

It might have something to do with that sense, but the way it's used makes no sense.

Maybe it's a play on the other student being too stupid to put something meaningful on the sticker.

Seems like it'd be a lot clearer to just have one saying "My kid rides dirt bikes but sucks at school."

FYI, whenever you gas a dirtbike and spin the back tire in such a way that it throws dirt, it's called a "roostertail," or "roost" for short.

Pretty much.

See, now what I saw was just the words in a window decal.  There was no picture of a dirtbike.  Had there been a picture of a dirtbike, I probably could've figured out that it was connected to dirtbike slang.  It's still would've been stupid and confusing to most people, but at least it would've had a modicum of context.
