Happy birthday to you, sir!

Happy birthday. Have a nice day. :cheersmate:
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Hey thanks everybody for the thoughts. I was admitted to the hospital on Thursday January 28 for blood clots that formed in my leg during a long flight. They broke up, moved through my heart and settled in the bottom of my lungs. LOTS of needles and a crappy sodium restricted died. I was released on February 2. The next night I began the joys of projectile vomiting and diarrhea from that flu (not swine) going around. The vomiting lasted for two days. The "other" lower end is still going on but not as strong. I was just happy to be able to hold down chicken noodle soup on my birthday.

Oh yea, and this is the big Five-0 too. Fifty years old with the emotional state of mind of a teenager.  :-)
The blood clot thing was scary - the doctor flat out told me I definitely dodged a bullet.
That damn Boooosh health care and economy. This all could have been avoided with single payer health care insurance.

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Blood clots are scary. I am glad it broke up before getting to the heart! It would have been much worse I think.

Four 1/2 hours from Minneapolis to Portland, OR.
Got on the plane, sat for 45 minutes then 3.5 hours flight time.

That is incredibly scary for it to have happened in that short of time. I thought maybe you had been travelling from Eastern Europe or the Far East.

I know that you know how lucky you are.

How did you know you were in trouble?

How did you know you were in trouble?
About a day after I returned, I found that I could not walk 10 feet without being completely out of breath. A sure sign something was wrong.
I called the doctor at 9 AM and was in his office at 2:45 that afternoon. Both legs swollen but the lower left leg was very swollen. My left ankle was three times the size of the right. The doctor looked at that and said, "this isn't good - I'm getting you to the hospital right away". I headed the three miles to the hospital, then a ultrasound at the hospital at 4PM. They saw the blood clot in the leg then. I was admitted at that time, then an MRI for the lungs 1/2 hour later and in my room one hour after that with subcutaneous injections of blood thinner in my guts and two IV's: one for fluid and from what I could tell, the other IV just for fracking fun because the nurses love to jab those fracking needles in my arms.

Holy crap.

So what are they doing for you now....and are you sure you've had the flu and not side effects from what they did to you in the hospital?
