I actually have pay TV now. Direct TV in HD.

I finagled a way to make it cheap for me, after I purchased my own equipment...enough said.  :evillaugh:

Oh don't tell me things like that. :devious: You'll get me in trouble again.

It's been raining on-again, off-again here in Silicon Valley for several days. Not cold, no piles of snow, but I have a feeling there's been or will be some mud slides up in the Santa Cruz Mountains (which are between San Jose and Santa Cruz).

I looked for prior posts about this without finding any. Is anyone else weirded out by the Progressive Direct banner ads currently running on the forum? It pays the bills I assume and it doesn't really bother me, but the "Progressive" does refer, IIRC, in part at least to the owners' politics. If they want to help a conservative discussion forum pay its bills, I'm OK with that, :evillaugh: . The garishly made up, supposedly homely, chick is starting to grate on me, though.

Seriously, we are neighbors.  That is cool :-D

My dad and I managed to plant some veggies in our garden between rain showers.  Now I have to convince somebody to drive me to get my eyebrows done  :naughty:

Not at all. I suspect she probably has to be made up that way to make her look homely. But just in marketing terms, PD has over-exposed her. By way of contrast, GEICO has several series of ads - the iconic talking gecko, the cave men and the money-stack-with eyes. They rotate them and mix them up so viewers and listeners don't get tired of them.

Rose, when I stand in my front yard I see Good Sam hospital across the freeway, about half a mile away.

We really are practically neighbors.  I'm about 7 miles away from Good Sam, going south on 85.

It rained here today again. We took our youngest daughter and a few of her friends to Color Me Mine for her birthday today.  Her actual birthday was last Sunday.   I'm sleepy because of the rain.

Oh something I forgot to add. My youngest daughter was in a school talent show last night. It lasted three hours, a little too long if you ask me.  Anyway, after we left my husband told me he heard the older lady sitting next to him complain about a little girl who played the piano and sang a religious song. She said, "I thought there was separation of church and state".  This little girl was in 4 th grade.

I can remember in grade school our Christmas plays and things actually involved some singing some of the religious carols. No one complained back then, but that was 40+ years ago.

Seeing that this is now a revolving thread (Coach!), it'll be about 30 or so today, and mostly cloudy.  My lovely wife and I are going to drop The Heiress off at my in-laws, then go for a romantic lunch.  We'd go for a romantic dinner, but I'll be at the local AA meeting then.  (Yeah, there's a whole bunch of them around here all day, but I told a couple of people that I'd be at that one.)  I'd like to hit the tube around 1 PM or so to watch the Nationwide series race at Daytona to see how Danica Patrick does, but we'll be somewhere that I won't be able to do that . . . and I have no problem with that.

Supposed to get to 40 or so today, so snow will melt.  Have to cut down my crape myrtle limbs that fell in my neighbor's yard.  And snake out my kitchen drain.  Woot!

Temps in the mid-30's through the weekend.  Oil guy came out this morning.  170.6 gallons at $2.599 per gallon...almost $450.  For seven weeks worth of heat.

I WISH we had more global warming.

Went and looked around a freezing cold house this morning.

Wow....what a ton of work to be done. Lots of wood rot, needs a new kitchen and bathrooms. Breath was fogging inside of the house. Thank heavens for the sunshine...kept walking out in it to warm up.  :brrr:
