Wonderful Wednesday, or not.
« on: January 06, 2010, 07:50:54 AM »
Clear and cold this morning, but expecting 3-4" more snow tonight.  None of the other snow has melted yet, as we haven't seen 32 degrees in over a week. :(

Cold here.  The ARCTIC BLAST 2010 is headed our way, and should arrive early tomorrow morning.  Pipes were NOT insulated, but are now, so I can breathe a little easier.  "They" say we are going to have the lowest temps for the longest period in 15 years.  Fortunately, no snow.

We are right around average temperatures here, though the lows seem to be lower than average.  It is around 40 now, and it looks like it will get to around 60 this afternoon.

I'm still playing catch up at work.  Nose is at the grindstone trying to churn as much out as possible before I take another 4 days off starting next week to have ankle surgery.

Death by Power Point (DBPP) continues.  I'd rather work 12's inside the plant that 8's in training.

Typical NH winter weather.  Highs around 30, lows in the teens.  The cold snap hits Saturday, when it MIGHT get out of the single digits, but will be around zero at night.

Oh, and CR--How YOU 'doin?  :naughty: Need someone to fan you off and feed ya peeled grapes while you're laid up?

I remember back to the early 70s when the temps in Garland plunged to 9 or 10 degrees F. I had to walk to school, too.  :hammer: :hammer:

currently 23 with a windchill of 19.

snow is forecasted but "they" aren't sure how much...depends on which way the storm tracks and how much moisture is in the air....however it is supposed to start tomorrow into Friday....with snow showers Friday night into late Saturday.

when they forecast measureable snow around here...they are usually wrong.

when they say they don't know....be afraid.

I need milk....good thing I don't need toilet paper...I'm sure the stores were emptied out of TP yesterday with the first prediction of "unknown".....  ::)

New repairman said parts are due in this morning and someone would be out to install asap....he's up in Gatlinburg so it won't be him....as long as it's someone who knows what they are doing... :uhsure: The first repair company are not going to like the bill they will be sent.... :evillaugh:

Yeah, that was back when they didn't care about whether or not the school had heat, eh?  They are talking now about people reporting to work early, to warm the buses for the little ones, and their plans if the bldgs don't heat up.

I'm all over it.  I'll get the fireplace going.  Hope you don't mind when the dog tries to squeeze you off the couch and the cats look at you as if they haven't been fed in weeks.

But the TV remote--oh, that stays mine, hon.

There were several school districts around here that were opening late because of the cold and some just closed completely.

No, if we got snow, they usually closed the schools in Texas. It was uphill going to school, at least to one of them. The other two were flat ground. ;)

Another Navy man - a Seabee... was here to put the parts in. It's not fixed.

The guy from the first company....whatever he did....it basically fried the entire innards of tubes, wires, groundings, etc......

He's called in someone from Lennox and they will be here in the morning.

Still no heat or hot water....

Deb.  You have heat upstairs, right?  Why not just call up your running buddy and offer a bottle of wine in exchange for a nice, warm shower.

Then, you can come home, and be toasty upstairs!

Now, just imagine how whiny Deb would become were we forced into a "survival" situation. No electricity, no gas, no oil heat....No TP (she'd have to use leaves or something). No chocolate, etc.

My idea of camping is a hotel without room service...

I braved the shower while ago.....I now am clean.  :-)

Yes, we have heat upstairs and it is comfortable.

I did just make dinner though and had the ovens on to heat things up a bit.

Managed to make an alfredo sauce (had lots of leftover half and half), also did shrooms with onions, garlic, basil, oregano in a combo of olive oil and butter, linguine and a salad....so the natives have full tummies.....at least for a little while. And the ovens have heated up the kitchen/family room.

M said last night it was a damn good thing the kitter-kat came home when she did cause otherwise I'd be a real bitch.... :shucks:

Surprisingly none of us are at each other's throats.

On the other hand....I made 3 kinds of chocolate candy, two kinds of chocolate cookie bars....before the holidays. I'm pretty passive right now.... :-)
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.
