I wonder if the Jews are gonna be pissed?

Obama White House Downsizes Hanukkah Party
by Josh Loposer
The Obama administration has cut the guest list for the White House's annual Hanukkah party in half, from 800 last year to 400 in 2009, due to recessionary budget cuts. Obviously, that means a lot of prominent yearly guests and supporters will have to be axed. Is the president letting a little ol' recession stand in the way of a great big Hanukkah tradition?
A reported 78% of Jews voted for Obama in the last election, a substantially wider margin than George W. Bush received. Still, W's Hanukkah party was twice as big. Is Obama lacking in the holiday spirit department?

The White House is attributing their Hanukkah cutbacks to the supposed "intimacy" of a 400-guest party versus an 800-guest party.

"They want it to be more intimate ... the president and Mrs. Obama do not want to sit around for 800 photos." Understandable -- even the President has his fill of flashbulbs.
Will downsizing lend credence to the goofy, paranoid rumors that Obama is secretly Muslim, anti-Israel, etc.? According to the experts, yes, and no.
Apparently, there's a growing sentiment that the current President isn't particularly interested in the Jewish community -- and putting the Hanukkah party on the chopping block is just another perceived slight. MORE here
