Sounds like a case of "I won a Pulitzer so damn your facts."
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.   ~Robert A. Heinlein

...let the cannibal who snarls that the freedom of man's mind was needed to create an industrial civilization, but is not needed to maintain it, be given an arrowhead and bearskin, not a university chair of economics.
~Atlas Shrugged, Galt's speech

No Chump, sounds like this story was written some time ago and the author needed a piece so without checking for any updates sent the story in to be published.

Sloppy journalism and a stupid thing to do. Shows he may have some problems with his profession and personal life.     What was he thinking.???

Michelle has been calling him on it, especially the fact he has been in the hospital for three weeks already.   And he does qualify for medicaid, which is paying for it.

Does anyone here remember "andyscam?"   Guy ran fundraisers for various troofer stuff, mostly related to electronic ballots.  He pulls one more for himself where he needs money for care at Johns Hopkins (in baltimore, the guy is from Seattle) and he spent such a great deal of effort raising funds, that he neglected his care and died of it.
The true way of the left.. never let the facts get in the way of a great narrative, even if it kills you.

I'm dying of a dread disease. There is no known cure for it. But if each of you would send me just $10 I can get into John Hopkins for a radical, experimental research project there. It could be of benefit to all of you someday.....So please help. It's money well spent.....and if you can't donate to me directly please send your donations to "Fight Old Age Now" or "Stop Global Ageing". Both are fine organizations, I know because I serve as bagman treasurer of both organizations.

And they wonder why we don't find them credible.

Hi,

Boy I see this differently.  I look at it as premeditated, he knew damn well he was not printing the truth and did not care.
