N.Y.S D.E.C. is killing my sisters' deer tomorrow please help

My sister lives in NY and has this deer that they found when it was a baby and took care of it.Now it is full grown it is hunting season so they put a vest and collar on it so he does not get shot.

Short story D.E.C found out about it and now they are coming out to destroy the deer tomorrow morning.Any ideas on what to do to save the deer.Anything they can say?He did already warn them about the collar but they really want to save his life during hunting season.

Anyone? Please help the sweet little dear named Daisy They have about 11 acres for him to run around on.

editing so I don't look so stupid.Hee hee oops I still do.Oh well.

1. Do they have a barn or someplace enclosed where he can be?

Just get him out of harm's way...

Also, post no trespassing/no hunting signs on the property's edges.

Private property is not open for hunting, as far as I know.

11. I was going to suggest the same thing. Hide her till you find a better way.

Don't let anyone on the property at all unless they have a warrant.

2. maybe see about getting it to a deer park where they are protected from hunters.

With 11 acres of land though I don't understand what the big deal of having a pet Deer.

They could order D.E.C. off the property saying they are tresspassing (does D.E.C. have a court order to destroy the animal?) and fight it in court.

Granted it I'm not a lawyer I'm just coming up with ideas.

3. My only idea: contact a preserve with other deer, let them have Daisy.

If it's against the law to have Daisy as a pet, I think she is SOL.

Others who keep deer would have some suggestions, I think, so I would search for such people or organizations for advice.

5. Find a roadkill young deer--this could take some driving, but is possible.

Bring it back to your sister's place. Take the other deer away for a while, and when the authorities get there, tell them it got hit by a vehicle and is already dead.

I doubt there's much that can be done.

franksolich loves wild animals too.

26. you've obviously never had one run into your car and total it, know anyone killed by a deer running in front of their car, had your landscape destroyed by deer or had your v****e garden wiped out by them.

Deer are beautiful, but in suburbia they also lack predators except for humans.

25. But once this deer has been raised by humans, whata re the chances he/she would survive in the wild, especially with hunters around?

28. see nature program about orphan cheetahs. If you're going to rehabilitate a wild animal you should know what you're doing before you start.

I understand the emotional attachment, but people also need to understand when that emotional attachment is counter-productive.

30. Not a popular answer but here goes.

contact a large animal vet who will come on site and have it put down humanely. I assume by destroy you mean they will euthanize by a veterinary action. If they are not and plan to shoot it, then a vet should be contacted.

Deer can not be kept as pets. or domesticated animals.

NYSP and NYS DEC Police have this way of "taking care" of problems like that.  The deer is as good as dead.

OK, I did, and I still don't see much of a connection.  He seems to be employed by NY DEC and a big guy in wildlife pathology, and does toxicological tests on dead animals from all over the state.  But, it also seems like NY doesn't particularly give a shit about supporting his research with actual 'Money.'  He'd probably like to have the dead deer.  So?

If there's publicity involved, Ward Stone will be right in front of the cameras.  One of the guys in my lab actually had an old calendar with the dates of press releases/appearances by Stone.  We got to the point that we could predict, with amazing accuracy, when Stone would have his next appearance in the local media.

Stone would most likely try to make this into some sort of statement trying to bash the PTB within DEC that are calling for the deer's destruction.  And he'd be successful.  He's just that way.

We had in the lab, for a time, a young woman who had worked with Lord Stone.  One thing that she said about him that sticks in my mind is that she found out that Stone is a hard-core atheist.  IIRC, she related that he had told her, "I will not bend my knee before any God."  Kinda funny that he, with that statement, actually was bending his knee at the altar of atheism (and, by extension, Satan).

Off topic, and the reason for another thread to get closed, but that's a great example of the true beliefs of the majority of self-proclaimed atheists. Almost every atheist I've encountered are not atheists at all, but anti-theists. While it would seem to be a matter of semantics, there really is a difference in that a true atheist would not be passionate in his opposition to "any god", as they wouldn't believe in a god at all. Instead, he's opposed to the thought of bowing before God, which means he has to hold some belief in God, else it makes no sense.

As a former self-proclaimed agnostic, my problem was being angry with God. I flirted with the idea of there being no God, but was really behaving like an angry child toward Him.

Sorry for going off-topic, but the quote of not kneeling before God was interesting.

I don't equate Atheism to Satanism, but the Atheists seem to have a huge blind spot for the fact that their beliefs are every bit as much a matter of faith as those of the snake-handlers.  Their lack of self-awareness is laughable, in light of their pretensions to pure rationalism.

73. Update:

Yesterday was very anticlimactic they never showed up.They are having people deersit which they never do,usually the deer comes and goes as it pleases. Also they normally don't keep her in a collar(or vest) it is just until deer season is over.Besides she is only 6 months old and it seems like there should be a law about shooting them that young.I think sometiems hunters get trigger happy.
