« on: November 26, 2009, 04:48:31 PM »
Was looking for Thanksgiving bouncies but too early yet it seems.

Internet shoppers: Please pay your "USE" tax this year

As a reminder, states like California require you to list your online purchases you made that you not have all ready paid taxes on. Please list this on your state tax form if required and pay your taxes.

Happy Thanksgiving.

1. Thanks for ...

There is a patriotic DUmmy unless it was meant to be sarcasm?

5. Funny - Arnold promised to LOWER Taxes
We now have the HIGHEST Sales Tax ever.

DMV Fees (car tax) has returned to the same level prior to his campaign promise to reduce DMV Fees and the State is STILL BROKE and quagmired in deficit spending. GOOD JOB you RATpubliCON Stooge Arnold

Arnie is hardly a Republican as I wish for one but seems odd that the state hands him a checkbook to spend at will with.

12. Exactly, Californians need to get some Dems in the statehouse
Edited on Thu Nov-26-09 10:35 AM by hughee99
so the repukes won't be forcing these taxes on everyone.

22. Regardless, if they could somehow take control of the CA state legislature
they could prevent the repukes from forcing their taxes on anyone. Democrats would never allow this sort of tax policy to happen on their watch.

So it isn`t Arnie it is the damned Republicans that control the state legislature.
How did that happen yet dems have carried the state in the Presidential election every year since 1988 I think?

25. Thanks to prop 13, the minority party is still capable of blocking new tax legislation.
67% vote for new tax legislation. It's gonna take more democrats to get rid of that and restore some sanity to the tax code. Until then, the rich and the big corporations will continue to **** over the lower and middle classes and the pukes will continue to lie about it and Norquist will still exert control over the pukes and the radio will still broadcast RW lies and the republickers will still blame liberals.

6. Right
As long as they refund my shipping costs. And that isn't going to happen.

Hell, one of the good things about the Internet is that you get out of paying the horribly regressive sales taxes. Go figure, they lowered the rate since 1964 of the highest earners income taxes from 90 to 35 percent, and at the same time, sales taxes, here anyway, doubled.

Taxes, off the rich, and onto everyone else, and many of the neo-cons voted for it. We all need to be trying to sluff off the most regressive of taxes, sales, and gas.

In other words tax everyone except me.

Oops...I forgot...it's only frivilous taxation when a Democrat does it!

It is simply the law of the state and they are asking you to comply,it isn`t a new tax...just trying to crack down on you unpatriotic tax cheats.

Here in California we have to pay a "recycle" tax... err fee ranging from $8 to $25 on all Monitors, Laptops, Portable DVD players and Televisions, on top of that there is the sales tax, if I lived in Los Angeles County I will have to pay a 9.75% sales tax (In South Gate its actually 10.750%!)

So lets to the math, If I purchased a 37 inch television in Los Angeles County...

Price: $499.99
Tax: 9.75% ($48.75)
Recycle Fee: $25
Total: $573.74 ($73.75 in taxes and fees)

or a 15 inch laptop

Price: $399.99
Tax: 9.75% ($38.10)
Recycle Fee: $16
Total: $454.09 ($54.01 in taxes and fees)

or a 21 inch monitor on blackfriday

Price: $79.99
Tax: 9.75% ($7.80)
Recycle Fee: $16
Total: $103.79 ($23.08 in taxes and fees)

and despite all of taxes and fees California collects, it's still broke.

Until the representatives of this state gets off their lazy asses and make necessary cuts and balance the budget people are not going to be inclined to voluntarily list all of their online purchases and voluntarily pay a "use" tax on top of the high taxes they're already paying.

Plus I don't want my tax preparer knowing I spent $9 on purchasing Muff Love 22.

Yet another Conservative is born...kind of makes me tear up. {sniffle}

It's not that taxes aren't high enough in Califruitopia, it's that spending has run amuck. But fine, let them raise taxes on the wealthy and on businesses, that will just mean fewer wealthy people and businesses.  New York City is finding that out the hard way.

It's almost like they are of the belief that since they voted Democrat...they will some how be exempted from the taxes imposed by their party bosses.

It is the same delusion they have in thinking they will be elevated to the politburo in the socialist state they crave.
The moment they started griping about how they don`t have the housing or whatever they deserve they would soon discover what northern Maine is like in January.

Dear DUmb****s--if you lived in states like New Hampshire, you wouldn't have to worry about it.

But no matter, we've got Democrats firmly in control here, so we'll not be far behind you in the hell-in-a-handbasket race.

In all honesty the OP didn't state that he would pay his taxes. Only a reminder for others to pay their taxes.

You know that "Don't do as I do; Do as I say" thing.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Followed by the idiots blaming all ills on a socialist-wannabe RINO.  Apparently they are not aware of who runs the CA Assembly and Senate, along with every other major statewide office.

CA is going to hell in a handbasket after many years of unchecked liberal control and after Grey Davis got the boot, people really thought  Arnie was going to fix everything. He only made it worst. Thank God next year is an election year.

That's nice, but how's about they clean their own house first, and get their party leaders to pay their taxes, before they start nagging the rest of us to pay ours (and quite frankly, almost none of us have the desire, or the ability, to commit tax fraud the way Democrat leaders do - anyone thinking of Charlie "Tax Evader" Rangel yet?).

He tried. Arnold had three propositions that would have checked the growth of kalifornia's budget and union public job expansion.  The unions and the democrats (but I repeat myself) went balls to the wall to defeat them and they succeeded. After that Arnold was effectively neutered.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

There's a good article in the National Review this month about this, by VDH.  A lot of very plainly spelling out the problems, but not a lot of fixes.  People all over the political spectrum have simply gotten used to getting something for nothing.

I think the worst problem is headcount.  Too much of it, and too highly paid ($350K for a city nurse?)  Retirement at 50, with 90%.  Can't.  Be.  Done.

Can I say that #25 up there was the most childish post of the day.

Bingo.  The Unions and Democrats refuse to allow pretty much any cuts, then blame the Republicans when the budget isn't fixed.  A line by line analysis of the budget is really the only thing that could fix anything, but that will never happen.
