I've used mine since I first got on the internet after coming back from the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants with free medical care for all, in 1996.

I had wanted to use my real name--innocent me, back then!--but found out it wasn't available because my best friend, an attorney, had already been using it for his own purposes, whatever those purposes were.

Desperate for a screen-name, I came across a newspaper story that mentioned the name of an obscure assistant football coach at the University of Nebraska.

The name sounded solid, sturdy, reeking with principle and integrity (George Bush was still reasonably obscure then, and I had all but forgotten about Richard Cheney), and so I took it.  Much to my delight, as time went on, I learned I had indeed picked a name of a man known for his solidity, integrity, and principle.

I've been all over the internet since mid-1996, member of too many sites to count, and I've always only ever been franksolich.

It's a great name.

Out of the blue, I'm obviously a big Simpsons fan.  When I first joined at CU years ago, this was the name I picked.  Never anticipated that I'd be hanging around message boards like that and this one for so long and so often...would have changed it, but everyone just knows me as Ralphie now. :cheersmate:

Uh...it's my name.....and I wasn't creative enough when I signed up at military.com, as it was my first forum. When I moved over to usmilnet, when it first started and a lot of people left m.com for there, I kept it.... so I just kept it when I came here, as there were people there who belonged over here too.

I don't use it anywhere else....I got creative....eventually... :thatsright:

I used to play an online shooter game created by the army called--coincidently--America's Army (you can still DL and play for free BTW). I initially used a SN I had been using since the early days of AOL-dom but after playing a few weeks I noticed people with obscene names like PimpDaddyGangsta and SatanicBabyEater666.

First, names like this show an ego and a desire to shock for no good reason.

Second, this is not the kind of thing the army is about.

So, I decided to take a name that if/when I knocked off one of these egomaniacs it would play against their ego. What gangsta wants to be blown-up by Mr. Snuggle Bunny.

Not long after I joined protestwarrior.com and kept the name. When it shutdown I was banned from one of its sister sites when the Ronulans took over. Then I wandered into conservativeunderground and the rest is history; a history despoiled by yet another Ronulan invasion.

Old site I belonged to -- I lurked at when I was on bedrest forever when pregnant with my twins.   I finally joined and started posting giving myself the username.... then was banned by the owner when I told several members about another website Sparky created.  

I miss some members from that old site, but the pathetic drama perpetuated by the immature owner and mods I guess I am glad to do without.  (wave hi to them everyone as their needy mods have nothing better to do with their time than troll the internet to report back when other post about the site).

"Jinx" comes from an AD&D character I used to play.  He was an accident-prone wild mage.  If you don't know what that is, don't ask.  I don't want to explain it.  Just think "random chance of random magic."  Anyway, since I, too, am accident-prone, it was inevitable that the name also became one of my nicknames.

"McHue" comes from something a friend did for part of his online handle.  He took the first syllable of his last name and added "Mc" in front of it.  I did the same with my last name.

I go by my middle name and shorten it to Mike. The 20 comes from reenacting. The first 2 comes from when I signed up for my first forum and I wanted to be "Mike20" but it was already taken, so I just added another 2 and voila.

Mine came from one of my best friends in high school, having sent a note to me about something or other one day. Wonderful friend, great human being, talented computer guy, lousy speller. Or maybe he was just ahead of his time with regards to texting. Either way, my name got shortened to its current form and I've used it ever since.

I signed into CU first when I lived in Nashville. I had moved there from Houston, so I just took both TN and Texan. Now I havew moved to DFW and it still works...
