Post Office
« on: November 16, 2009, 03:49:27 PM »
Another great signal the government is a master [  :censored: ]of running businesses. :hammer:  On Cavuto this afternoon, it was announced the Post Office says it will lose $3.8 Billion this year.  And they don't understand why there is no confidence from the public on 'government run health care.  Hope Congress gets fired in 2010, just hope that isn't wishful thinking. :banghead:
yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery - today is a gift- that's why it's called the "present"

Here, they've closed the Post Office on Saturdays and stopped mail deliveries on Saturdays.  One of their ways of cutting back. Instead of increasing customer service and having better service, they are just cutting services. I went to the Post Office the other day to mail off a letter, ONE mail clerk was there while there were several people in line. It's no wonder that they're losing money. People just don't want to use the USPO. The mail delivery person that does my route won't even deliver a package to the door. He'll just slip a pick up notice in the mail box. At least UPS and FedEx will get out of their trucks and bring the package to the door. THEY seem to be making money.

They are not required to pick up your mail unless you have some to be delivered. We've had mail out to be picked up, and the mailman crossed our yard and passed within 5 feet of our box but didn't pick it up because we had none to be delivered that day.

Thor  i think you just have a lazy mail carrier . my mail carrier bring me my packages to my door opens the screen and makes sure its dry as far as customer service and having only one clerk it's because of the money the one thing the post office is loosing alot of they cant afford to have 2 clerks in an office they should have a postmaster helping them but we know thats not happening. noone is getting credit card offers anymore they are paying their bills online ebanking buying online instead of through the magazine should i keep going those are the issues at hand credit card companies use to send out tons of offers to people now they are not so much revinue is lost the internet took over the 44 cents it would cost you to pay a bill noow you pay it online for free i know myself i have 6 bills a month that i pay online that now the post office dosent recieve our taxes do not go towards the postal service at all not a penny so for them to close on a saturday would be smart or just stop mail delievery to your home but still have the office itself open  with bankers hours really think this way banks have wonderful hours right home by 1 pm on saturdays but really you would rather get money than bills from your mail carrier i know i would

About 25 years ago I had a massive go-round with the Post Master in Lubbock Texas over a package delivery I had been waiting on. He told me that by union rules the carriers aren't required to deliver OR pick up your mail.

IF you get any service it's because the carrier feels good that day and decided to work. So no matter you've been waiting on something important. It can sit on the truck for a few days till someones mood improves enough to get it off the truck because that slip they may or may not leave doesn't mean shit either.

The only way to get prompt service from them is with a PO box. Evidently since you pay extra they feel you deserve the extra effort.

That is obviously true. How times have we heard about mail carriers houses being raided and thousands upon thousands of pieces of mail bing found?

Last Christmas, I shipped my daughter a present through the Postal Service. The carrier never ONCE attempted delivery to the door and she lives in the city. When I complained to the Post Office that I had to come into town to pick up the package that I had been anxiously awaiting (a new video card), it was explained to me that the Post Office wasn't required to deliver it to the door because I was on a "rural route". All in all, it's simply just plain poor customer service. This has only changed over the last few years. Of course, when I lived in Becker, MN, I'd always give the postal carrier a present over the Christmas holidays. I guess that this carrier could care less about any tokens of appreciation. Then there's the fact that I always see him gabbing on his cell phone whenever he's delivering mail (driving). I'm tempted to not avoid an accident with him on one of his delivery days, however, I can't take the chance on getting injured again.
