My Big Tom Cat has this aversion to being groomed on his back half.
Cat is almost full grown, for his breed that is 5 years to mature--Maine Coon.
About 18 months ago we took him to the vet to be shaved into a lion cut and all went well until the last 6 months. Then the Matt's came in that he would not allow us to comb out.
We took him in for another dematting and when we got him home he began to exhibit personality changes towards the female Coon, very aggressive and not in anyway an act of play.
My question is, since cats getting this procedure have to be put to sleep for the safety of the groomers, could the anaesthetic have caused changes in personality of my cat.?
Our female has no matting problems, she is also friendly to grooming anywhere.
Both are FIXED but this Tom now it either trying to mate or use the sex position for dominance.
They awake us at 2AM racing through the house yelling and fighting, female trying to get away from the male, never did they do this before.
Until now they both slept with us, slept with each other and did things together. They have their master picked out, the Male is Hubby's, where Hubby goes so does the Male. The female choose me to follow and protect.
Is this a fact of maturing or a change brought on by the drugs for the procedure,?
