Oh my.

Skins's island seems unduly patriotic today.

Happy 234th birthday, U.S. Marine Corps

I looked to see if there was a similar thread on the 234th anniversary of the forming of the United States Marine Corps, but I didn't see one. So let me be the first to say "hoo-rah" to all Marines, past and present (and future?) for doing jobs that most Americans don't want to do.

1. Yep , and please rebrand into civil and humanitarian activities like cleaning roads , building dams , caring for the homeless. Enough with the bloodshed business and being pawns of imperial power.

How about mobilizing the subway cat, the shadowy primitive, the pederast primitive, the squawking primitive, the bobbling primitive, the Vegas blimp, and all these other primitives on "disability," for these unskilled jobs?

Using the military on them is like using brain surgeons to mow one's lawn.

12. "Don't be bitter... reconsider..."

Remember that one? It came just before the shipping-over lecture.

The lifers were right about one thing, tho. It stays with you.... the good and the bad. I can still crack people up with creative MarCor obscenities they've never heard before... everybody laughs.

The nightmares.... not so funny.

13. Yup. Profanity became my second language in the Crotch.

An absolute necessity when dealing with officers and parades and brainless 1st Sergeants.

15. "Use your head, boy." Said to me after I'd fetched coffee for the asshole and had to "Knock".

Our platoon had the distinction of actually having 2 DI's removed for brutality. Rifle butts used on boots leave marks.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

One's heard tons of apocryphal stories about how cruel Marine officers are.

It's odd one hears such stories only from miscreants, never from honest Marines.

No Smedley Butler quotes?

Them slackers are slacking.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."
