The most important aspect of the massacre and tragedy of Fort Hood is the support and grief of the families of the victims killed by a fellow soldier who, for whatever reason, was pushed over the edge.
Our hearts go out to those families. And as a veteran of the Vietnam Era active duty military service, as an Arab and as an American, I sympathize and grieve with them.
But as an Arab, and someone who most Americans believe is Muslim (a mistake on their part for which I am proud), I can't help but to want to examine beyond why Major Malik Nadal Hasan did what he did.

Arab and Islam are not the same thing. Sure, Islam came from the Arab world. Also, Arabs were among the first to embrace Christianity.

Eleven soldiers from Fort Carson, returning from war in Afghanistan and Iraq, have committed murders. Should we start profiling white anglo saxon veterans?
On any given day, in all the major American urban centers, Mexican street gangs terrorize American citizens. Walking at one in the morning, through an inner city, who is more likely to do me harm, a Muslim fanatic, or a crack addicted gang member? So, do we now start checking every latino in our midst to make sure they don't have gang affiliations?
This whole media extravaganza is bullshit. One of our service members flipped out, went bonkers. Period. Its not an unheard of or unprecedented occurrence. Its just a shame it plays into the hands of the REAL terrorists, the far right, who turn blind eyes to frying people in white phosphorous, torture, and murdering a million or so non-combatant Iraqis in a war based on lies.
The real terrorists are Muslim terrorist moron. The far right has not engage in any terrorist attack. It is the far left that engages in terrorism. Does SLA, PLO, ALF, ELF, Weather Underground, Communist Red Brigade, Carlos The Jackal, Osama bin Laden, and Che Guevara come to mind? What a moron!
