I'm thinking she means she wouldn't have found a wonderful husband and had two additional (and obviously more important) children, had she had to suffer the horror and stigma of being a single mum. Really, my heart just aches for the b1tch.
You are right,I read it wrong the first time.
It still doesn`t change that she is happier about her state of being then that of her murdered baby.
