Weekend again--for some of us
« on: November 07, 2009, 05:58:24 AM »
Getting closer to startup.  Reactor should be critical late tonight or early Sunday morning.  Then finish he heatup/pressurization, spin up the turbine, hope to Christ it's fixed, and synch to the grid sometime Sunday evening.

What, you thought nuclear power was FAST?

Concurrently working 345KV line outage, so we're on shift for another week at least, and if Operations won't help us (likely prospect), we'll have to cover next weekend as well to bring the line back.  Whee.  Not expecting a weekend off until Thanksgiving.

Most of our power goes to Mass, so National Grid would be one that delivers to individual utilities, Unitil another, and PSNH for here.  Those are for starters.

Frankly, it's amazing how much bitching I hear from Massholes about how "dangerous" nuclear power is, even now.  That usually stops when I offer to stop sending the power we generate to Mass.  Our one plant can supply about 80 percent of NH's needs, but we don't see most of it.

Not sure what kind of day it's' supposed to be here...I think it's going to warm up to the 60's starting this weekend.

I get to spend my morning and half the afternoon selling tickets for Nutcracker (first day of ticket sales...yay).

Had a good evening last night.  We all went to dinner to celebrate report cards, and then hit the outlet mall...found shoes for both boys, and picked up a couple Christmas ideas.

I'm going to start painting the kitchen today. Actually, my focus will be on prepping the walls, unscrewing light switch covers, etc.

I've received so much advice on how to paint that my head is spinning and I'm paranoid I'm going to screw up.

I've decided it's OK if I mess up. I can repaint if needed. But I can't be afraid to start. I just need to dive in and do it.

I thought about going to IKEA too but I'm thinking I'll do that once my  painting project is completed. It will be my reward...well, besides the awesome paint job.  :-)

Happy Saturday, kids!

Going to the store in a minute to get some guajillos, salsa verde, and maseca for tamales tonight. Will spend most of the afternoon typing a rough draft for a research paper.

It's a beautiful fall day...cool and SUNNY!!!!  :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Doing typical Saturday running around.....

Meeting up with my friend after while to go check out the new super Kroger. Two women excited to check out a new grocery......I'm not sure what that says about us...  IF a Publix ever gets here we will probably be in a state of bliss... :shucks:

Also running by Kmart, since they closed the one on our side of town and the closest one is near the new Kroger. If time, I need to hit the garden center at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Then going somewhere with the spouses to watch UT play Memphis this evening and eat dinner....

I'm at work again after a decent night of sleep.  I don't think I have another day off until next Saturday.   Warm and sunny here, but I don't get to enjoy it because I'm inside staring out a window at some trees.

Doing some cleaning today.  The Bathroom needs a serious deep cleaning and some dusting is needed all over the house.  Nice sunny day in the 60's out here.

I've started making my Christmas Gift list, and I've realized that I have no idea what to get half the people on it, and that I don't knit fast enough to knit all the gifts I have planned.  I'm planning on sitting and watching a movie or two this afternoon to get some Christmas gifts cranked out.

Would you clean my house too?  It's not too bad, just needs all the 4000 tons of black cat hair vacuumed up.

Personally, I think Bear (the long-haired black one) is far smarter than he acts.  I'm convinced that he's at least partially succeeded in cloning himself.  I say partially only because it seems that his "clones" spontaneously explode while I am gone, leaving nothing more than huge clumps of black fur everywhere, particularly in places most difficult to clean, like stairs, corners, along the wall, etc.

Sounds like our Puffer (she's actually Cocoa Puff).....we brush her, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. She looks like she's bigger than the others, but she's actually the smallest. She's all hair. I take the cat brush and do the stairs...it's the easiest way to get it up. Then vacuum them and they come pretty clean. Wish I could take the vacuum to the cats.... :uhsure:

Once in a while I find some ***** hair laying around my house, and I don't have a cat.  :evillaugh:

My almost two year ago neck and shoulder injury has flared up on me for the past two weeks. By the time the weekend rolls around I can hardly lift my arm due to the pain...it sucks...I've been resting all day. Lortab is my friend, but hardly touches the majority of the pain.

Never made it to the new Krogo's yesterday.

Rumor has it we are to be getting a Publix sometime in 2010....hopefully we will. There's one in Key West, and it's where I always shopped. Such good stuff  Great apple fritters, good meats....

Where have you been shopping?  There are so many grocery stores within 15 minutes of here... Publix, Trader Joe's, Wild Oats, Harris Teeter, Kroger, Wal Mart.

I need to find somewhere I can buy a good rib roast (4-bone).  The Wal Mart and Kroger don't keep that kind of stuff in stock.

Let's see...here in my little 'burb I've got one Market Basket that all the Maine welfare queens jam up every weekend (especially the first one), two Hannaford's, and Wally World, which I rarely use since their meats and produce SUCK.  Hannaford's isn't bad in that while some people consider it yuppy-ish, it's not as bad as Shaw's, which we don't have anyway.  Failing that, there's a little farmer's-type market down in Dover that does some really great (if expensive) meat and stuff, kind of like Trader Joe's without the Hawaiian shirts.

Deb, if you promise to shop there, I'll put in my 2 cents when the next shareholder report comes out that Publix should expand to Knoxville...

My next dividend check will be awesome...  :evillaugh:

I can definitely promise that I will shop there!!!!

People here vacation at the Carolina and Florida beaches....they all have Publix. There wouldn't be any problem getting people here to support a Publix.
