Saudi court upholds child rapist crucifixion ruling
« on: November 03, 2009, 03:39:25 PM »
RIYADH (Reuters) - A Saudi court of cassation upheld a ruling to behead and crucify a 22-year-old man convicted of raping five children and leaving one of them to die in the desert, newspapers reported on Tuesday.

The convict was arrested earlier this year after a seven-year old boy helped police in their investigation. The child left in the desert after the rape was three years old, Okaz newspaper said.

International rights groups have accused the kingdom, the birthplace of Islam, of applying draconian justice, beheading murderers, rapists and drug traffickers in public. So far this year about 40 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia.

In Saudi Arabia, crucifixion means tying the body of the convict to wooden beams to be displayed to the public after beheading.

This may make me a horrible person, but I don't have any particular problem with this.  Beheading, then displaying the body, seems like a reasonable punishment

Sounds fair to me.  Harm children, get beheaded.  I like it.

I'm in favor of this punishment.  Anybody tries to do this (rape) to my daughter, well . . . let's just say that it wouldn't be pretty. :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

I don't have a problem at all.  I believe that a great deal can be done to eliminate crime by making punishment more severe.  And Public.

I'd be satisfied with public executions without the displaying of the body for more than a day or so.

I guess I am not having a big problem with this.  Should do wonders for the recidivism rate.  Child molesters seem to have a high mortality rate even in our jails. ::)

Unlike the rest of you I wholeheartedly agree with the Kingdom's decision.  I'd be happy to see all child rapists put to death in this fasion.

And the problem with this is???...

You have Iran moving to kill political protesters, yet this group is beating the drum with a child molester. I think their priorities are not set right.

Agreed. Beheading is rather sudden, and fatal.  :p  Crucifixion takes some time and is extremely painful.

It's better for more pain in this case.

And I woulda thunk that crucifixion, then beheading, would've been like the ol' hanged, drawn and quartered bit, where the condemned is drawn to the execution site first on a sled or cart of some type, then hung by the neck - but not until dead. He's cut down before unconsciousness, then he's disemboweled and emasculated. After that, then they burn his entrails and naughty bits in front of him, presumably while he's bleeding to death, then they divided the body into four parts. Then and only then is the body finally beheaded.

Seems like a lovely way to die....

We have 4 animals here that have been going to trial.

1st animal is in medium security prison.

2nd was just sentenced Friday to 4 death sentences.

The other 2 have yet to do to trial, but jury selection is starting for the next trial.

There is no doubt any are guilty due to DNA evidence.

I don't think there are many in this community who would have trouble with these animals being crucified...in fact...I think many would stand and applaud. Forget the beheading....that makes it too easy a death...

I'll admit it.

I'm all for public hangings.

Call me crass. I'm like that.

Public hangings never have seemed to do anything more then draw a big crowd of people to the hanging of a thief and pull in dozens of pick pockets to work the crowd.

Last hanging we had in my State was inside the prison yard in Concord
some time in 1930 decade.  This was not a public out in the city square thing, it was suppose to be private to some extent.

There just happend to be a hill behind the prison with perhaps 15 homes that over looked the prison yard.  The owners made a killing selling spaces on their roofs, up in their trees,
renting out tall house painting ladders and home made scaffolds.

All told about a thousand people got to see the show.

The one hanging that interests me was the hanging of the woman, name escapes me at this time of the older woman who owned the boarding  house John Wilkes Booth lived in, she was the FIRST woman to be hung in the United States.

It was a very strange affair, the evidence against her consisted of a small picture of him she wore in a locket.

John was a very well known actor and devilishly handsome, woman, even the old and foolish had a crush on him.

Seems he around this time met Lucy Hale who's father was --I believe Governor of New Hampshire and they became engaged to marry.

It did not take but a few hours after the shooting before Lucy was on her way to France and little is known about what became of her.

There are photos of the hanging , I trying to remember here, think there were 4-6 others hung at the same time.

I know today there are tours that follow her life, quite expensive, that go from Maryland to DC.

Back to the Saudis and their form of capital punishment, The punishment of being beheaded may in fact be more civilized then the gas chamber, electric chair or hanging.

What ever is done with the body after death is for show, this seldom influences anyone to change their evil ways.

Only punishment I can think of that may stop a monster is full castration.  I believe this was the punishment used by the Aztecs on their monsters.  Men who have to squat to pee are noticed right smartly and are a better indication of their capability's to harm others then some headless body rotting on a pole.

BTW are they still turning up body's in the midwestern mans home, count yesterday was up to 10.
