Oh my.

The banal anal primitive passes around an internet petition:

At least one Democratic senator is blocking a public option - but we don't know who.

Firedoglake.com

That's because Majority Leader Harry Reid is protecting any senator who wants to join a Republican filibuster of health care reform.

This isn't just wrong, it's deeply immoral. If a Democrat wants to filibuster a public option, make them do it in public.

Almost 30,000 people have told Harry Reid to force the Democrats opposed to a public option out in public. Can you join us?

Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats can't suddenly start talking about their lack of "60 votes" without also saying that a "filibuster-proof majority" means that you don't allow members of the Caucus to join a Republican filibuster without paying a price.

Reid can't shift responsibility for that on to anyone. It's his decision, and his decision alone to force to filibuster before he waters down a strong public option because of private threats they won't publicly acknowledge.

For years, we've been told we couldn't pass bills because we needed a majority in the Senate. After we got a majority, we were told we needed 60 votes to pass progressive legislation. Well, now we have 60 votes. It's time to use them.

Harry Reid can no longer allow members of the Democratic caucus to block a public option behind the closed doors of the Senate.

Sign our petition to Harry Reid: force the silent filibuster senators out into the open. It's time for a public count for the public option.

2. You'd think with the Democrats in power...

Mormons, who are part of the religious right, would have lost their influence.

They are all too busy lining their pockets and worrying about getting re-elected to worry about the country an the American people. And even if they do not get elected they just go get a job with a company that they helped. They do not worry about living under the laws that they pass for everyone else. 7. Here's my note to Harry

Harry, It's a disgrace that a fellow Democrat would attack not only other loyal Democrats, but all United States citizens who want good healthcare for all without the threat of blackmail from the insurance companies. Please don't allow a turncoat Democrat hide behind your cloak - do the right thing and hold fellow Democrats accountable who would side with the insurance companies.

10. I'm guesing it's Lincoln

She's up for reelection next year and her support among Democrats will evaporate if this becomes public knowledge, and she won't score any points with the RW nutters by publicly joining the filibuster - they won't vote for her in any event.

Politicians have no balls.........they only see what is best for themslves and screw everybody else. They have made themselves untouchable.

It seems that all the parties what are people that can not think for themselves so they can continue controlling them once they get in office. I say it is time to stop all party destination once they get into office. No party caucuses behind closed doors. Seeing how all of them have websites...all monies and gifts over $500 be listed on their websites. We have to figure out ways to make them more accountable.

Suck on it, primitives.

That's okay, Olympia Snowe cancelled out whoever that anonymous vote is.

Personally, I can't believe Reid IS a Mormon. He doesn't act very Christian most of the time.

I have no way of knowing for sure, but based upon the positions he takes publicly, I'll just about bet the farm that the man does not hold a current temple recommend (that's the little slip of paper you get from a Bishop after he interviews you to determine your worthiness to enter The House of The Lord; you can't get into a mormon temple without one).  Again, I have no way of knowing, but I'll also bet that he's a bi-annual mormon at best, in the same vein as the bi-annual catholics.

But, as long as Robert Byrd is in a hospital in WV, the Dems don't have 60 votes.  My guess is that Blanche Lincoln will join Ben Nelson--if it is indeed him that's holding things up.  Keep Byrd alive at all costs!

You can be sure that no matter where in WV the hospital is located, its name is the Robert Byrd Medical Center.

It's an even bet that the road they used to transport him there was some Robert C. Byrd Memorial Highway of some sort....

The only politicians that come anywhere near Robert C. Byrd in namesakes are Washington and Lincoln.
None of the others are even close. Even in a small state like West Virginia, his total has to be in the thousands.
