BEG, I've been through this exact same thing several years ago. I picked up my big 135 pound dog from the groomers and noticed him pawing at his eye. It wasn't long till it looked just as you described. My vet at the time was a friend, so I was in the back room with him while he put my dog to sleep, then he pulled up the dog's inner eyelid (dogs have 2 sets) and he sewed the inner bottom lid up to the outter top lid of that eye. He left it that way for about a week - boy was it was grody looking - and I also had to put drops in twice a day. Then when he took the stitches out it was all perfectly back to normal. The vet never found anything in his eye, but said there was a deep scratch that looked like the groomer probably got a hair in there.
Later after this, I learned that a really good professional groomer will use some stuff in their eyes before they start that is like a waxy sauve that is supposed to protect from this happening.
I hope your baby is back to normal soon. I don't blame you a bit for being pissed, I'm pissed all over again right now myself.
