First justice, then we move on. Without justice there can be no healing. Our society can never be healthy if we are not able to speak plainly about what was done to us, and by whom, and punish them accordingly. Until that day all hope is empty, all unity feeble, and all progress reversible. If a society is no longer capable of bringing its own corrupt elements to justice, then it is no longer capable of maintaining its own existence.
I have to agree with the DUmbass's sentiment here, though not for the reasons he/she/it expresses.
Regardless of how this year's elections turn out, I won't be shaking hands, unifying, making nice with, or forgetting about a group of people who for the past eight years have blamed conservatives for everything from school shootings to AIDS deaths to the sequelae of natural disasters. I won't be playing patty-cake with people who have denounced me as hating "the poor" or being a racist because I don't believe in rampant socialism or pardoning illegal immigrants. I won't be forgetting the Christian-bashing and the mockery of my Savior. I won't be overlooking the accusations of promoting violence against homosexuals or taking away their civil rights simply because my faith tells me it's a sin and I take a constructionist's view of our Constitution. I will remember how certain people "pissed on the graves" of decent Americans, belittled children simply by virtue of who their parents are, and committed (or claimed to commit) thousands of petty, spiteful, vicious acts against innocent, unsuspecting people solely because they claimed a different political philosophy from their own. I won't be singing Kumbayah with people whose mission in life is to continue the holocaust against millions of unborn children.
Lastly, I won't be cleaving to those who for the past five years have been doing everything in their power to belittle, slander, falsely accuse and demoralize the fighting men and women of this country. You have given aid and comfort to the enemy, lionized them, justfied their actions, rationalized their atrocities and served as their apologists, all the while painting our own troops under fire as criminals and tools of evil.
Hell no, there ain't no forgettin'.
