In Idaho?

Here in Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota, it's 4%, which is considered "high" unemployment.

In North Idaho we pretty much run around 10% this time of year. Logging operations and home building slows down around now. Once the snow flies, we hang around the wood stove and drink scotch. Hunting season is getting into gear soon. Many get laid off in order to get out in the woods. I think 1 in 3 around here are avid hunters.

They have a really hard time understanding simple economics. Even your average crack whore understands if someone gives her a couple of bucks he expects a blow job in return. In return for the taxes I pay for local services I expect the fire department to rush to my house and put out the fire should there ever be one. OTOH, my tax dollars that end up as welfare payments to said crack whore because she's got three kids and a habit to support don't do a damn thing for me. I get screwed and don't even get to have an orgasm.
