Actor Patrick Swayze, who went from Broadway dancer to Hollywood star in box-office hits like "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," died on Monday, U.S. media reports said. He was 57.

Swayze, whose spokesman announced in March 2008 that the actor had pancreatic cancer, died at home with his family at his side, ABC News reported, citing his spokeswoman Annett Wolf.

The Texas native began his career as a dancer and made dozens of stage, film and TV appearances over four decades. Pop culture immortality came with 1987's "Dirty Dancing," which defied Hollywood expectations to become one of the most-watched movies of all time.

His show The Beast only ran for one season last year but it was freaking incredible!  If you get a chance check it out.  No one ever said a bad word about the man.  He was truly a class act.

Kanye West interrupted the newscast and said that Michael Jackson's death was way bigger...the biggest death of the decade...

Too soon?

His mother taught dance in Houston.  Mother had Patrick dancing before he was five.  I'm sure Patrick learned to fight shortly after.

RIP, Mr. Swayze.  Because of what I read about Patrick Swayze I conclude he was a decent guy.

So sad....

Just as sexy in Road House as in Dirty Dancing and Ghost.

Men liked him in the tough guy movies and women swooned 'cause he was not only sexy as hell in "chick flicks" but because he dearly loved his wife and seemed to be a genuinely nice person....
