College football, opening weekend...
« on: September 06, 2009, 10:29:28 AM »
Oklahoma... I have no words.

tOSU... won. (just) Hey Navy ain't that bad but we sure didn't look all that good.

BYU... do they have a title shot now? Weird.

Anyone see that Iowa game live? Wish I did, lol.

Georgia... wow, I didn't think of them as the "for reals" underdog. Oklahoma wins with defense? (ayy-ayy-ayyt)

Bama vs V-Tech was the best game so far, even though Bama should have won by more. Come to think of it, maybe that's why it was the best game. (?)

Pretty much everyone won that should have.

Michigan vs the Irish might be a good game next week. Might even mean something. hmmm

Any meaningful games left this week for any CCers?

Disgusting offensive line play by OU. Defense was sharp. Bradford and Gresham will be back by Miami. Gresham could play in the Tulsa game, because, the word is he won't need any reattachment surgery and only a 'scope removal of free-floating cartilidge. The O-line will have to be much better or I am thinking 7 wins this season. 8 at the most.

Ole Miss didn't look good at all, at least, Jevan Snead. We beat Memphis 45-14, but it was sloppy.

The Miami-FSU game should be pretty good.

I agree the VT-Alabama game was the best I saw.

BTW, Cincinnati Bearcats looked good today.  With UVA losing to Wm & Mary, Al Groh could be gone.  Bet they wish they wouldn't have signed him to 10 years.  Watching Paulus play QB with Syracuse was pretty funny after watching him at Duke for the last few years.

Best upcoming games for Wk. 2 (or at least games that hold some interest):

So. Cal - Ohio St
ND - Mich
UCLA - Tennessee
So. Carolina - Georgia

TN won...obviously, but they played The Little Sisters of the Poor (WKy).....question will be how they play against UCLA on Saturday as a preclude to the 19th...and the biggie ...how they will play against the 'Gators.

Kiffin beats Florida and he could lose the rest of the season the Vol fans would be still be reasonably content.

He gets his ass handed to him by Florida and it won't matter if he wins every other game....what will be remembered most is that he lost to Florida.

Add in beating SC ...and the man will get a huge raise!

It ain't happenin', sweetie. There's only one thing different between you and Auburn. You got the second worst coach for the SEC. .....Auburn got the first.

Hate ta break it to you, but there is a precedent set for assistant USC coaches coming to the SEC. Ole Miss had one...and not only that, we got Pete Carroll's right-hand man and the person that was the best recruiter in the nation when he was at USC AND Miami.....both times when they won the NC. A guy by the name of Ed Orgeron. PAC-10 ball is not SEC ball. Sorry. The reason Nutt is doing so well at Ole Miss is because Nutt IS an SEC coach. You guys should have picked up that asshole Tubby. He knows SEC and should have played USC in the NC in '04.

Beats the heck out of me how/why Kiffin was picked....'cept for the fact that his wife is a drop dead gorgeous blonde.  :uhsure:

It will be an interesting year for sure.

After the last couple of years of Fulmer...I have not been as interested in UT's football....but it would be sacrilegious to not cheer for UT. However....I will cheer for any other team that plays against Spurrier....can't stand that man!!! :censored:

Ammended:  The Miami-FSU game was the best game of Week 1.

No question there.

Great pics for the games to watch in week two. Although, if tOSU and Mich. both lose (very possible) the Big 10 will be about as meaningful the rest of the way as the Big East, and the jouney's of Boise State and BYU... spoilers in the BCS at best! sigh

Gawd I wanted and still want Boise to lose.  BYU has a tough road to go undefeated, but at least they have both my Frogs and the Utes at home.

Saw the entire Iowa/Northern Iowa game.  Being anti-Iowa, I was rooting so hard for them to lose.  Couldn't believe that the damn UNI kicker couldn't at least get some elevation on the second FG try. :(

Sorry it didn't go your way but man I love games like that. Only saw the highlights myself. I wish Ohio State still played in the old style they used too. (three yards and a cloud of dust, game managing QB's and defense that blows people out of their socks)

I hope no one thinks I was ragging on the "lesser" conferences. My "town I live in" (do AF brats have hometowns?) Bearcats gave Rutgers a beatdown that was fun to watch. I just think I might have to lower my expectations for the Big 10.

Bearcats have been having a couple of really decent seasons......my other half is a UC grad....and grew up in Cincy.

Yeah, I think it started when Mark Dantonio (former tOSU coach now at Mich. State) came to Cincinnati. They have a new, new coach now (name forgotten 3 beers ago) who is pretty good too.

:cheersmate: to your lessor half. (I know thats not how you put it lol) Go Cincy!
