Super Sunday
« on: August 09, 2009, 08:31:04 AM »
Got down to 49 last night.  High of 78 today, thunderstorms this afternoon.  Green chile burritos for dinner.

All is well in Sparkyworld today.

Morning! My sister is coming down from Davis (a little town outside of Sacramento) for a few days so I am excited. My little one is a week old and such a little diva! She lets me sleep at least 4 hours a night which is more then I can say for her older sister who was a major night owl. Church today, then shopping, then torturing my liberal sister with Fox news.  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: Maybe I'll have a bouncy for ya'll.

Opressively hot here this week... I'm staying indoors.  Supposed to rain tonight or tomorrow.  Other than that, nothing new... another day, another dollar.

The "new" WGN/Chicago channel has been running movies all weekend.  I must have watched four or five last night.  I got to see 'The Great Raid' -- excellent movie.

We have a heat advisory going on here today.  With the index it's gonna top 105 or so.

A day of cleaning the basement awaits and soon there will be French Toasts for the fams.

Pleasantly warm here. I went out looking for bookshelves for my kitchen (to put the recipe books on) and didn't find any.  I am now roasting some home grown tomatoes, jalapeno and garlic as a prelude to making a sauce.

Church today, then some work in the Church Bookstore.  We have a bunch of new things that need prices put on them, plus we've all been busy for the last month, so I want to spend some time looking through what we have and deciding what needs to be ordered.  Then doing some more clean up after the party my parents had last night.  Yesterday was very busy, with a Baptism in the morning, Baptism reception in the afternoon, and party at my parent's house in the evening.  I'm looking forward to some relaxation this afternoon.

Things are coming ripe in the garden, so I may make some salsa this afternoon with home grown tomatoes and hot peppers. :-)

Nice day here...supposed to be pretty warm, though.  Got the house whipped into shape this morning, and now we are just chillin for a while.  Youngest has a birthday party to go to from 4-6, and a roller skating place.  Both older kids want to tag along so they can skate.  Haven't decided about that yet, though.

Dinner tonight will be nachos I, I think....homemade tortilla chips, with refried beans, gr beef with taco seasoning, and a blend of cheeses, topped with jalapenos, then baked in the oven.   Probably will have some wine, too.

Actually we were nearly out of wheat bread so the kids got that and we made do with Sandwich Rounds. :p

And sugar free syrup and lite sausage.  The honeydew and cantalope were aces though.  I ****ing hate dieting, lol.

So help me out here Spark... I have type 2.  At what point do I stop sweating like I am in a freaking sauna at night?  Is there a way to find a happy medium on where your blood sugar sits so you arent going from zero to buckets in 2.8?

Actually, I didn't have 375, but it was that high when I was first diagnosed.

Nowadays it's a happy 80-85 in the afternoons, 105-115 in the morning.  It's taken a while and there are times when the blood sugar gets so low I'm shaking like a damn leaf.  That didn't really happen until I started on the Glyburide, and had to cut way back on the Glucophage.

Just keep checking the blood sugar often.  Recognize when it'll go up or down and plan accordingly.

And yeah, diet and exercise work wonders.  Also, I find the big meals bit doesn't help.  Small bits throughout the day.  Only way to go.

Need to go to the grocery store, do some minor maintenance on my truck and might go to the driving range later.

Sounds tasty, will you be using alternative chips?

Welcome's to a woman's world....we call it menopause.... :censored:

Seriously, my dad and grandmother both had type 2 and while my sugar levels have a tendency to "bottom out"...it's always in the back of my mind that it can hit the opposite...

Ever since I was tested in my late teens and found that at the end of the 6 hrs...I have no sugar left....I "snack" a lot. I tend to have something every couple of hours and not eat a lot at any one time.

I buy the large can of cashew pieces at Sam's and keep them in the pantry...will put about 1/4 c into a custard cup and zap them in the microwave for a minute....they will be hot!!. Great midafternoon snack, and something about warming them, I eat them slower and fill up quicker.

Always have cheese slices in the fridge and fruit...I'm a red grape, blueberry, cantaloupe and an occasional apple person.

Hooked on what I call "fizzy water"....the flavored waters with no caffeine, sodium or calories. I haven't had pop now since mid-May, except for a couple of "slips" first part of June. I had heard that even diet pop makes you crave sweets, and didn't believe it....but since I have been doing the fizzy water, my "sweet" wants are not has prevalent....so maybe it's true.

I do however...have a chocolate addiction.  :shucks:  M&M's are a constant, and for the last couple of months, mini York peppermint patties.

I have to honestly say that the bacon plate looks nasty.... :o

Beastly hot out, have been doing some laundry...and catching up in forums....heading out to the pool for a couple of hours of "slug" and being good and swimming laps.

Enjoy the afternoon, y'all..... :-)

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I've finished two bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." – Dave Barry

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

I'm trying to get back into "work" mode after being off for two weeks. It's not an easy task!

Been straightening up the apartment and getting things back in order. I ignored my normal cleaning routines the past couple of weeks (hey, I was on vacation!) so things were starting to look a bit disheveled.

I made an early dinner of spaghetti.

I'm downloading the latest episode of The Soup right now @ iTunes. I think I'll kick back and enjoy that with a 100-calorie fudgesicle for dessert.  :-)

You're the official Bacon Goddess

If ya don't us bacon your just depriving your communist inner self

What a Sunday................yes I've already had bacon once today and having even more bacon for supper.  My day started with pressure washing the folks deck (while they're lounging in Ocracoke..........they deserve it) doggy sittin still.  Then I endulged myself in office supplies on the tax free weekend (I really have a problem, it's almost worse than bacon.....almost) then i loaded a few beers in the cooler and headed to the club for a boat ride.  Water was low, so the smell of the dyig barnacles as bad..............not as bad as all the pogies I left for the Govenor :cheersmate:

Well I started down the river ad the smell never left..............lord and behold there was a dead 20" mullet under the back jump seat  :thatsright: That sumbitch had to have been there for a week considering the amount of decay and the decay sludge...........well float tested the mullet, spayed the boat down quickly and then dicovered the bilge pump wasn't working  :thatsright: so I hand pumped the bilge said screw it when done 'I'M GOING FOR A BOAT RIDE" Took off again..............popped a cap on a beer and kept right on going...............I was tryig to figure out how far of a boat ride the VFW was, and it's not that bad............well on the way back lost power, not all power, but enough to keep me off plane.............scrambled quick and started making phone calls let them know "it won't be long before she cuts off".........this was at 530pm..............finally got back in the slip at 720pm.....................I've about scrubbed the skin off and that damn mullet smell is still making itself known.........................but all be well soon............bacon chicken sandwich will be ready in just a few

Moral to the story BACON cures all
