Guilty pleasures
« on: July 23, 2009, 10:52:23 PM »
What is your guilty pleasure? Talk shows, soaps, lewd romance novels, Jon and Kate, tabloid rags you read in the check out when you think no one is watching you?
Would you dress up as a Klingon  (had to ask my hubby how to spell that  :-)) and attend a Star Trek convention? Did you elbow a small child out of the way to get the newest Harry Potter book?

Discuss.

Have you been stalking me?!?!  :o

Just because I dress as a Klingon when I go to Star Trek conventions is no reason to assume I have some kind of deep seated resentment of my mother and a whole bevy of "adequacy issues" I'm compensating for.

Oops.   Did I say that out loud?  :thatsright: :argh: :cheers1:

I'm addicted to romance novels ;-p  I can read and discuss any intellectual book with the best of them, but when I want to relax, I was a good story with a happy ending.

I tease my mom that it is her fault for reading me fairy tales as a kid.  :cheersmate:

Occasionally I will watch trashy reality tv like Real Housewives, but that's about the extent of it. I doubt my love of forensic shows would be a guilty pleasure :lmao:

I have German roots. We don't have fun unless beer is involved.  :badmood: :argh: :-) :cheersmate:

Trashy novels? Nope.
Trashy reality TV? Nope.
Tabloid rags in the checkout? No, although I laugh at the overall stupidity of those things.

Ice cream. That's my guilty pleasure. Ice cream. Good ice cream, like Haagen Daaz. Almost any flavor will do, especially if it's got almonds in it.

I love the website Dlisted.  My morning starts like this... Let the dog out, grab ice tea, read Drudge, read Dlisted, read CC.  Dlisted makes me laugh my ass off every day.  Not that the tabloid articles are all that great but the owner of the site(MichaelK) may just be the funniest human ever.

I also love watching SpongeBob Squarepants and Fairly Odd Parents.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Chocolate is not a guilty pleasure...it's a necessity for sanity.  :-)
--------
Pogo.com...specifically PHLINX....but then again that too, could be considered necessary for sanity...especially when I put a face on each one of those little round thingamajiggies and blast them!  :evillaugh:

Daytime naps
Dutch apple pie (warm) with vanilla ice cream just because it's there
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

I don't feel guilty for any of my pleasures.

Except perhaps the hedonism.....

Spending Sundays in a book store, I should be in church but the smell of the paper and glue,  the huge amount of written words some good some bad , the unknown ideas I may pick up, could change my life or destroy it.

A place of 1,000,000 ideas and insight.   things of the past, the present and the future.

Guilty pleasure, I spend money to listen to strangers with their words, I fall into the book at home and become unaware of the anything but the words.

Bad girl, put that book down and cook dinner for the family, talk to the family, and for gosh sake put the dogs out.  Put that book down.

Throw some canned pork and beans in with the cottage cheese for dip, and I'll agree.

I haven't dressed up as a Klingon but I have gone dressed in the uniform of the USCM or the United States Colonial Mariens from Aliens. I used to go to the Cons to see what was new to buy but ever since they came down on dealers over copyright issues the cons have dried up around here. Now I just go to Wonderfest and have my fun there and enter my models.
