The US private sector shed 473,000 jobs in June to cope with a prolonged recession, a survey by payrolls firm ADP showed Wednesday. Most analysts had expected 395,000 job cuts.

Much worse than expected. One third worse according to this short story...very very bad.

1. ADP's estimates are as reliable as right-wing talking points
They are notoriously wildly off-the-mark month after month.

2. Better than the 532,000 lost in May, isn't it?

3. I'm afraid it has to get bad and will likely get much worse before our captains of industry finally realize they can't stay in business without customers and that they won't have customers unless people have jobs that pay them enough to live on.
Cheap credit masked that fact for the last 20 years or so. The bills are coming due, though, and nobody's in a position to take on more debt.
Cheap labor conservatism has run its course with the predictable outcome, a crashed economy. The last people to figure that out, alas, are the cheap labor conservatives and those people are still in charge of both parties.

4. I must agree, even if the number is wrong..to see anything around 400,000 is awful. Severe contraction of the economy, and all the pain and suffering assoicated with it. I feel for those without work, families to feed, increased fear..etc...........

7. And you WANT it to get worse - until 'increase the pain' reaches a critical mass
breaking the lock of corporatism on the body politic.
Never mind the broken lives, misery and despair, it will all be worth it in the end, and no one will blame Obama or the Democratic Party along the way.

5. How long will this REPUBLICAN CAUSED recession last??
I like to remind rightie that this is a republican recession just in case they have forgotten all about GW..
Uh, the primitive needs to look at a calendar.
The current downturn began circa November 2006 or January 2007; either one.
One wonders what happened then.
Just like the economy under the Impeached One improved circa November 1994 or January 1995; either one.
One wonders what happened then.
The primitive needs to consult a calendar.

9. I think the recession will last the rest of the year
I predict we won't see job growth until early 2010 (at the earliest).
The Republicans will try to turn this into Obama's mess. This time next year, "The Obama Recession" will be a GOP talking point.
