My kids are driving me nuts/beer thread
« on: June 17, 2009, 06:52:40 PM »
We are having nasty storms in our area right now.  The kids are driving me freaking nuts.  The roof is leaking somewhere and left a big puddle in my living room but I can't find the leak.  There are tornado warnings/watches, flood warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings.... I only have one beer left. :bawl:  I am drinking a red eye right now because it is delicious.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

Put the kids outside.  Send one on the roof to find the leak.  Call a liquor store that will deliver.  Put a BIG towel on the wet spot.  Jump up and down on it.

I'm in the opposite situation tonight!  Youngest is at a friend's for the night, and both of the older ones are at teen night at church, and they are getting a ride homew ith a friend, so I don't even have to pick them up!  Just Mr Flame and I home until after 11!  :naughty:

We're in storm mode here too...I'm over this crap! I truly hate storms....

Had another tree fall around 8. This one is hanging on the roof over our bedroom. Doesn't look like it damaged the roof, but we won't know until we move it off in the morning. No leaking in the bedroom so far....there's a mostly cathedral ceiling in there so I would think if it's going to leak it would be visible.  :o

This makes 4 or 5 trees so far this spring that have fallen near the house.....all have been live trees. Thank God we had already removed the dead ones a couple of years ago.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

Took you long enough. Mine have been off since June 2nd and it's a very long summer vacation this time because they are opening new schools so extended the summer by a couple of weeks :banghead: My only consolation is the little one goes to kindergarten too this year so the first morning they are all gone I'm going to sit back and just...ahhhh relax lol :hyper: I can't believe it's only June 17th though :bawl: Between the rivalry between the oldest and  youngest and the typical behavior of my middle autistic one... :bawl:

September 2nd can't come soon enough.  :banghead: :thatsright:

I thought I'd scale back working out,but I realized without it, I might just be committed.  :lmao:

Yea, we have storms here too.  My youngest was in his room since 7pm with all windows and doors shut, a movie on and his hands over his ears... poor little guy.

I was sort of proud of him though, we had to go out and pick up the teenager, just as the storms were starting. The 6 yo held it together pretty well once he got in the car.  Getting him from the house to the car was a challenge but in the car, he didn't fuss.  He just kept his hands over his ears and his head down.   We drove through some serious lightening.

We've had rotten weather for three days in a row.  I thought my power was going to go out last night.  Sorry, I got no kids so I can't share your misery.  I did go window-shopping for an MG B roadster... I figure trying to keep three old cars running is punishment enough.

So I bought one of those telescoping magnetic pickup tools.  I've been playing with it for the last ten minutes.

Yikes!  Hope your house survived.  My aunt's backyard has a creek in the back with a bunch of weak, questionable trees.  Unfortunately, the city has made it impossible to have them removed.

That is a good tool to have. The telescoping mirror on a stick is another good tool to have, you can see/find things to pick up with the magnet!

It came with the mirror as an extra part.  The magnet is pretty hefty.  Picked up a fuel pressure test gauge, too.  I didn't accomplish much else today... I wasn't in a mood to do anything.

It sounds like you did enough!  :cheersmate:

I burned the #@*& out of the top parts of my right hand this morning before work. Trying to remove the coffee filter too early, and when lifting the lid, it gave my hand a steam bath. TWICE  :censored:  The warm water when trying to shower hurt like a bitch.

Steam and oil burns are awful.  Sticking your hand under a heat lamp after one just makes things worse. :-)

*cough, cough* :whistling:

The cost to remove the rubber baby buggy bumpers and install the earlier chrome ones is about $900 (includes bumpers).

Yeah, I know.

In the resturant business would get a few nasty steam burns...then later the same day had to have my arm under the set window lights....I can feel it again now that you mention it, thanks, LOL

I woke up this morning to hearing the tree slide across the roof directly over my head....let me tell you what a quick eyeopener that is!!!!!  :o :o :o then I heard the chain saw. A man with a change saw is a dangerous thing! Then he gloated when it was down on the ground without him or the house hurt.  :thatsright:

M had it off the house when I went out with camera....

thank God for all the leafy branches....we think that's why the house wasn't hurt...

black streaks up and down the trunk part from the lightning(can't really see them in this pic)...we think that because of where it splintered kept the house from being damaged.....

it was perched right on the roof peak....that's the peak in our bedroom over the bed!!!! :o :o :o

More severe storms predicted for this afternoon.....they are already getting them in western Kentucky and they are headed SE.....Chris and Lug...stay safe!!!
