Really?  That used to be a very sound method for getting your tires slashed and windshield broken out up there.  If it was the wrong KIND of American car, they would just kick dents in the door panels.

Anyone else see the story on the latest GM car?

It's a 2 wheel, 2 passenger Segway deal......I guess they'll call it the "OBAMA". ....the last GM car you'll ever buy. .....just before they go back to making just two basic models, a buggy and the carriage.

...it runs in reverse most of the time, and comes in only one color combination...half black, half white.   :-)

Actually what you linked to is a "tech center" not an assembly plant! I believe the vast majority of the people working there are not union! Still your point stands! If the employees of that company don't want to support their own company...why should we? As DT said up thread if that were an assembly plant parking lot your tires would be slashed!

I worked at the Tech Center for 30 years. Both hourly and salary. We brought in competitors models for evaluation by the hundreds. It's how we gauged our models in the marketplace. No GM employee, either hourly or salary, drove a foreign vehicle and parked in the lot. There was no restrictions. It just wasn't done. Many of the contract employee's did the same.

I live near a GM plant (within a couple-three miles).  I cannot remember a time I've seen anything other than American cars pulling out of that lot.

I wonder what they'd say about my Ford Ranger pick-up truck: cloned from the Mazda B-series trucks, and made in the same plant that turns out the Mazda trucks (only difference is the logo on the grille) - IN MEXICO.

The Saturn plant is just a few miles down the road from here.  Supposedly workers there who drive Saturns get to park in the lot nearest the plant.  Other GM drivers in the next one out, and any other American make owners get to park in Egypt.  Foreign car owners are encouraged to walk to work.  :-)

I've heard the same.  This plant makes the Tahoe, Expedition and Escalade.  I've been caught by the traffic of shift change, and I really can't remember ever seeing a foreign car coming out of the lot.
