Food Safety Administration: The End Of Farmer's Markets?
« on: March 22, 2009, 01:27:06 AM »
Quote
What this will do is force anyone who produces food of any kind, and then transports it to a different location for sale, to register with a new federal agency called the “Food Safety Administration.” Even growers who sell just fruit and/or vegetables at farmers markets would not only have to register, but they would be subject inspections by federal agents of their property and all records related to food production. The frequency of these inspections will be determined by the whim of the Food Safety Administration. Mandatory “safety” records would have to be kept. Anyone who fails to register and comply with all of this nonsense could be facing a fine of up to $1,000,000 per violation.

I’ve bought food at several farmers markets for years and I have yet to meet any vendors who are fond of the government. I think it’s pretty safe to say that most vendors at farmers markets won’t go along with this. The problem will be that the people who run the farmers markets will be forced to make sure that vendors are “registered” with the government.

Is this Change we can believe in? Maybe it is for Obama’s Secretary of Agriculture, Tom “I Fly with Monsanto” Vilsack.

For the rest of us, this is a nightmare.

All this crap is in response to the salmonella outbreaks and will no nothing to stop them.

What it WILL do it expand govt, raise taxes, raise prices for consumable items of any kind.

Just what the doctor ordered.  Dr Kavorkian that is and now he  has his eyes set on killing America.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

They've in effect nationalized the banks (capital), they're working on heavy industry (GM, Chrysler) and now agriculture. Another angle at collectivizing the farms.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Insane. Up is down, down is up.

A co-worker just joined a food co-op because his family wants to live organic. They asked me to witness their signature on the paperwork. Apparently local law enforcement did a sting on the co-op (a few years ago) because there were concerns about raw milk being sold. Un-freaking-real. In essence the papers they signed said they were affirmed that they weren't law enforcement.

That is but a taste of the 0bama's plan I imagine......
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

There is another component to all this and that is a dems favorite word..TAX.

Many of these roadside vegetable stand transactions are in dollar bills, this is perhaps a way to get a record of volume of crops produced to see how it compares with income declared.
