16 illegals sue Arizona rancher
« on: February 09, 2009, 04:56:24 AM »
Quote
An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol, he said, after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home.

His Cross Rail Ranch near Douglas, Ariz., is known by federal and county law enforcement authorities as "the avenue of choice" for immigrants seeking to enter the United States illegally.

Trial continues Monday in the federal lawsuit, which seeks $32 million in actual and punitive damages for civil rights violations, the infliction of emotional distress and other crimes. Also named are Mr. Barnett's wife, Barbara, his brother, Donald, and Larry Dever, sheriff in Cochise County, Ariz., where the Barnetts live. The civil trial is expected to continue until Friday.
WTF??

Why is this even going to trial? Any sane judge should have laughed this out of court.  :banghead: :banghead:

You have to remember, most lawyers (ergo judges) are democrats.....liberal insanity is a requirement for the Bar Exams. Only a few lawyers are able to fake insanity well enough to get into that profession.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

It would have been much, much eaiser to bury the bodies in the desert.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

And burry the bodies is exactly what they did 100 years ago......not necessarily a wrong answer.

Any bets on the outcome of this suit?  :banghead:

God alone suffices.

There is no way 16 broke, functionally illiterate(most likely), Mexican natives desperate enough for work that they will cross a desert many times without food and water would come up with something like this--it just makes no logical sense that they would think they had a legal consideration or what it was: valid or not. The real cocksucker here is the legal students and/or lawyers who sat around and thought this crap up, probably for no other reason then their own perverted sense of what is right or to make a name for themselves off of some off the wall legal presedence. Further highlights just how vile that profession has become.

Yes, but did he post them in 3 different variations/dialects of Spanish?  If not then this rancher will get what he deserves.  He should not have been discriminating by posting No Trespassing signs in English only.  I have no sympathy.  [/du-mode]

You don't need to bury them out there.
The local wildlife will take care of them quite nicely.
I've heard lead poisoning can be a real problem in the desert border areas.   :uhsure:

Were I the illegals or at least others who may know of this case, I'd be mighty fearful of (a) the suit itself and (b) a decision for the plaintiffs?

Why?

The clear signal would be to the ranchers and American citizens is that is really is OK to shoot first, ask questions later--and, if necessary, dispose of the bodies out in the desert where no one will find the boides for a long time, if ever.

Stupid illegals. Don't have enough sense to know their attorneys are about to get them and others hurt or killed.

They don't care who gets hurt in the long run, as long as they might be able to damage America, that much is obvious.

I'm pretty sure that they also hope to instill fear into other vigilante patriot persons and groups that may be patrolling the border.  Still the protection of private property could fall by the wayside.

The sad part is that these criminals with their ACLU type lawyers may actually win the case.

The feds are an absolute joke when it comes to securing our borders and have been for decades.

Doesn't the property owners right to stop them as tresspassers at least make it legal. Hell, as far as I can see the Illegals haven't got a thing going for them legally. I'm sure ACLU will be over this.

The border has traditionally been wide open away from the cities. Migrastion back and forth was common and tollerated, because the workers normally returned home to Mexico. As, of course, "rich" men. Prefering to be a big frog in a small pool over being just another frog in a giant lake.

Last few decades it all changed. The foreign Governments  made conditions at home a living hell, rather than simple a lack of modern (you know, electricity and running water) conveniences. Not to worry , tho, Obama and the Congress has promised to make America a living hell , so many will go home to be  a big frog in a small, uncomfortable pond again.
