The Goracle Smited Thor, for his nonbelief
« on: January 27, 2009, 10:41:33 PM »
Just got off the phone with Thor. He and Inga are powerless in Dennison, Tx due to an ice storm and are having to heat their home with a small propane radiator heater and a few propane lanterns. I tried, damn I tried, to tell him not to tempt the Goracle, but he wouldn't listen. Now, he's suffering the consequences of his blasphemy.

I feel that the Goracle smited Thor for that comment he made about Longhorn fans not being generally welcome here.
Perhaps if he would go outside and fall to his knees....raise both hands in praise with fingers in the hook 'em horns sign.......look up into the night sky and sing The Eyes of Texas; his electricity would comeback on.

I hope they are warm enough through the night. We got just the lower edge of that ice storm today - 2 dead in car wrecks (one a four car pile up), schools all closed, right now it's 28 degrees and icey roads. I can just imagine in Denton - it looked today on the weather map that they were getting hit hard. Hopefully all will be well in the morning. As is our usual weather here in West Texas, it will be back near 70 by tomorrow. Snow boots in the AM - short sleeve t-shirts in the PM.

The Longhorns barely scraped by tOSU. They deserve no respect.

This weather system is pretty large.  We're going to scrape by... it's supposed to be 35° tonight.

I think I pissed off the Goracle too. It's a freaking ice rink out there. The schools are all closed but yet my boss doesn't think we should be closed. Moron. I'll make it in eventually. Once the sun comes out a bit. Sheesh!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

^I think my boss is a robot.  :lmao: I told everyone in the office yesterday that if the schools opened late or closed, I would either come in late or not at all. Hubby works from 6:30 am to early in the afternoon and has a pretty flexible situation so we have to trade off and plan.

I also asked one of the other girls what our inclement weather policy is since I wasn't there last winter and she said, "if _______ and ________ (the owner and president) can make it in, you better be here". Ugh.

No one is officially allowed to work from home but the owner sends emails at all hours from home and expects you to pounce all over it the moment you get in and read it.

Okay, whine off.  :-)

Also topped off gas last night.  I'm trying to avoid buying food since I'm leaving Sunday.

It has been in the 20s and 30s for over a week here in Richmond.
