I'm looking forward to Duh Fuhrer's ministry, when such protests would be complete non-issues, never reported, and the idiot reporter would be disappeared, beaten to the brink of death, and then forced to watch his family fed into a wood chipper in front of him.

Happy days are here again!  :cheersmate: :bday: :cheersmate:

If you watch the tape carefully, you can see that the lead SS agent is about to wade into the audience and beat the guy to a bloody pulp, but W gives him a very subtle tap to the tummy and an even more subtle gesture, calling him off. A very well trained SS agent I would say.

Negative, he was trying to extract the President from the room, before the President waved him off.

The other bozo SS agents just stood in awe...as did the others...before they pounced.

I suppose the SS could have relaxed a bit, confident that there were no weapons in the room.  but it did seem to take a bit for them to get into the action.  interesting that the MSM managed to work the "hero angle" about the shoe thrower into the story in the 5th 'graph. :whatever:

Bush shoe incident caught Secret Service flatfooted

WASHINGTON — Although the Secret Service put everyone who attended President George W. Bush's Baghdad news conference through several layers of security Sunday, the agency appeared to be caught off guard when an Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at the president.

"We'll be our own harshest critic regarding this incident" Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said Monday, "and we'll make any appropriate changes to security."

Donovan said, however, that agents on the scene knew that everyone in attendance had been screened for weapons and that they appeared to have taken the "appropriate level of action." No shots were fired as Bush's Secret Service detail joined Iraqi police in taking the shoe thrower into custody.

The arrested man, Muntathar al Zaidi, a 29-year-old employee of Cairo, Egypt-based Baghdadiya Television, remained in Iraqi custody Monday. Officials in Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki's office refused to comment on his condition or on whether he'd be criminally charged.

Throngs of Iraqi Shiite Muslims marched Monday in Sadr City, a sprawling Baghdad slum, hailing Zaidi as a hero and holding up shoes as they demanded his release.

it was the  comments that raised my eyebrows;  several of them are in arabic :whatever:, and the comments that are written in english are unintelligible. :-)

As a precaution, "The One" will demand that all reporters be required to go barefooted when they are in "His Presence".   :fuelfire:

BAGHDAD —  The journalist who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush was handed over to the Iraqi military, an Iraqi official said, as hundreds took to the streets Tuesday for a second day demanding his release.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi suffered a broken arm and ribs after being struck by Iraqi security agents, his brother told AFP on Tuesday.

Durgham Zaidi was unable to say whether his brother had sustained the injuries while being overpowered during Sunday's protest against Bush's visit or while in custody later.

Al-Zeidi was turned over by the prime minister's security guards to face further investigation by the military command in charge of enforcing security in Baghdad, the official told The Associated Press.

"He has got a broken arm and ribs, and cuts to his eye and arm," Durgham told AFP. "He is being held by forces under the command of Muaffaq al-Rubaie," Iraq's national security adviser.

So much for him being a "hero" to everyone.  :rotf:

Interesting (or not really) that the local D.C. news channels all edited out the part about the apology.

Good reflexes though! Loving baseball paid off for Bush I guess.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Not familiar with it either, what kind of scent is it? Floral? Its name makes no sense to me, how can anything that mass produced be called "the One"? It would be "One of the Ones".

About that nutjob that threw his shoes, now his brother is running around telling sympathetic fellow loons that the shoe-thrower was beaten up by the authorities. He would have been shot after torture if he thrown anything at Hussein back in the day. Liberals are like little kids, childish antics are fine when they do them, they would be crying rivers and screaming racism if someone had done something similar to their "One".

I like how he is pissed at Bush for "starting" the war but doesn't think that there is no way in hell he would be able t o do what he did if Saddam was still there.  Also their call for "freedom of speech", it isn't freedom of speech if you THROW something at someone.  He could have written what ever he wanted about Bush or said what ever he wanted to Bush's face but he THREW something at him.  The DU'ers would $hit a brick of someone (it doesn't matter WHO) threw something at "The One".

Perhaps neither Obama nor Dolce & Cabbana are "The One" after all... (see "W" in bullet time)  :-)

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

An update DUmmies would love:

Quote
Baydan has received orders for 300,000 pairs of the shoes since the attack, more than four times the number his company sold each year since the model was introduced in 1999. The company plans to employ 100 more staff to meet demand, he said.

“Model 271” is exported to markets including Iraq, Iran, Syria and Egypt. Customers in Iraq ordered 120,000 pairs this week and some Iraqis offered to set up distribution companies for the shoe, Baydan said.

Baydan has received a request for 4,000 pairs from a company called Davidson, based in Maryland. He declined to provide further details.
