Nursery Rhymes, Parrots, and 5 year olds!
« on: October 07, 2008, 05:27:40 PM »
After nearly 8 months, I haven't heard a single word spoken from my baby parrot.  Not a word, not a beep, just an occasional 'click' if I'm making 'clicky' noises and some random 'muttering' noises.   :banghead:  :thatsright:

This past weekend I left him with my mum and niece, while I took a nice flight down to the mountains.  For a lovely weekend of rock climbing with a special friend.  He absolutely ADORES kids, and I knew they'd all have some fun together for a week.  While gone he not only learned to speak about half a dozen words, but my five year old niece has him actually saying almost entire nursery rhymes!!!!!  :o :o :o

This is simply awesome :cheersmate:

WOOT! Glad to hear he's finally talking!  :cheersmate:  Sometimes it can take awhile, and the right person to get a parrot to speak.  It took us around 4 years before our eclectus Punkin would talk.

That's great that he started talking!

Now on with teaching him "bow chicka wow wow."   :rotf:

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

May I introduce Phoebe to your Senegal? (Not sure of his name...)

Phoebe (a Congo African grey) is about a year and half old now and has been steadily increasing her vocabulary since she was about a year old.

A few phrases she says:

"Pick me up!"

"Hello, baby!"

"Hey Belle!" (Belle's the name of our golden retriever.)

"Gimme a kiss! [smacking sounds] Thank you!"
