Two Cents on Tonight
« on: November 03, 2026, 08:53:42 PM »
Just my take, and take it as that.

It looks like the House is lost. It was for the most part expected. To narrow of margins that had to hold. Senate at this point is yet to be decided.

With that said, this may work out to our advantage in the long run.

     How?

2028. Going into that election if we held all chambers would work against us. Voters tend to hold the party in power more so responsible than the party that wrecked everything just a few years ago. Voter memory is as short as... oh look a squirrel!

Back on topic, it shouldn't be hard to guess what the left will now do once they take control over the house. Immediate Impeachments of Sec Hegseth, Pres. Trump and soon followed by most of his cabinet staff and those who serve him. Pointless and very partisan investigation show trials.

How does this work to our advantage? Voters are sending them back to power to do the work of the people and get cost of living back down. But the left has stated they don't intend to do any of that. Just "Get Trump!" at all cost. This will alienate voters going into 2028 just the same as it did before.

Going into 2028 least with this will help give our side the excuse of least we spent two years trying to make things better only to have a Dem controlled House opposing everything. And having proof they did nothing when given the chance. This though it is making things harder now, could help make it easier to keep the White House in 2028 and get both chambers back under our control when we'll need it the most.

Here is one big takeaway of mine: Trump has idiots advising him, and the important GOP candidates from this cycle have idiots advising them and running their campaigns. And the Collins campaign ad dismissing Jackson for his logging background was a self-own. That's exactly the sort of demographic that Trump and other GOP candidates need to appeal to, and they fumbled. Badly.

Exit poll questions  had some insight.

Best issue for Republicans was immigration.  Even liberal voters viewed this low on priority to vote for them.

Best issue for democrats was conflict in Iran. This ranked very high as their priority.

This is why I don't care if CA or NY to catch an errant nuke.

Looking over the info.

Might hold Alaska, but right now it's by the finger nail. (Singular) The Dan J trick is minimal, 3,447 votes, but the difference right now is less than 800 votes.

Texas is concerning. Hate to say it but Paxton clearly wasn't the better choice. John Cornyn was the safer bet. Also, every single district in Texas shifted Blue, not one red.

But looking over vote shift maps. States that showed some shift red in any district were almost entirely Liberal states while all Red states showed little if any. The red shift from 2024 undone. Maine showed the most promise with Red shift.

Good read on my point above

Edit

Looking at Texas more, Talarico has currently 5,445,121 votes, Harris in 2024 got 4,835,250. Right now the numbers are lining up almost flipped.

What's interesting in this graph, Feb. 28th was the start of the Iran conflict. You can see the impact it had on the elections.

I think some of thee problem in Texas is from all the liberals from California who moved there, just like here in Florida we have all the dems who moved here from the north east to escape t he hell holes they created in their states. :thatsright:
Life is tough and it’s even tougher when you’re stupid

Basking in the glow of my white Privilege and toxic masculinity while I water the Begonias with liberal tears!

I will give up my guns when the liberals give up their illegal aliens

We need a Bull Shit tax to make the Democrats go broke!

Trump won Texas by double-digits in 2024. I have to think the impact of Californians moving in was minimal at most.

Paxton was a flawed candidate, but the overall political climate was a bigger factor, the one that cost Republicans Ohio, and nearly cost them Florida.

Brown in Ohio was a hard one to beat. If they ran just about anyone else, they would have lost.

Far as Texas, yes migration from Cal did play into it. But Dems saw big gains in the Hispanic vote in Texas.

...

Blaming California "immigration" is easy laziness. It ASSumes conservatives are not (m)any of those leaving. I've seen enough @#$% like that from Texans that if I do leave California, I won't go to Texas. Too much blind and ignorant hatred - sad, but I'm not going to burn time and energy reversing neighbors' ingrained stereotypes.
