Here in my little corner of the real world:
* Most of the several hundred men and women in the building in which I work are east, southeast, and south Asians. None have disappeared, none have expressed fear, and none look nervous. For that matter, the founder of my company is a naturalized citizen east Asian, and he is going about his business very openly and freely.
* The executive pastor of my church is Korean, and among the staff pastors are a Korean, an Iranian, and an Indian, that I'm aware of. They are doing there ministry things very openly and freely.
* Among the members of our home group are a Singaporean and a Taiwanese couple. None have expressed fear or nervousness.
So either the

subject is reflecting Prog university fear-mongering or it's fiction.
