     I don't understand something (but trust me, I actually DO understand it perfectly): Why, if Trump is a complete dolt, a destructive buffoon, and will kill us ALL, do the DUmmies sneer and scoff when he backs off certain plans and threats? If tariffs, firings, and funding cuts are SO destructive and could put government handouts the "economy at risk," shouldn't they rejoice when the plans don't come to fruition? Instead, they howl and scoff and sneer and mock. It's almost like they don't really believe anything they say...

Liberals have zero clue about how to negotiate and make a deal. President Trump makes some outlandish statements to get the left (and some on the right) into an absolute tizzy, all the while knowing that he's not always serious about some of the things he says.

     I think the worst thing that can be said is this: Trump does and says some outrageous stuff to generate competitive and bargaining advantage. The markets have not learned what is strategic and what is real, so they overreact (in macro, anyway). When the gambit pays off and people say "let's make a deal," Trump backs down, and markets react to that. The result is that there are real short-term impacts that look bad, but only because people are stupid.

     Trump is the laser pointer. Liberals are the cats.

Good points, and I was going to edit my post to reflect something to the effect of what you said (although probably not as eloquently).

He legally probably can't fire Powell, and I don't think he was ever going to. But you're correct, it did put the markets collective panties in a bunch, hence the schizophrenic markets the past few weeks.

This is true, but also, Trump is capable of changing his mind, an idea that is foreign to DU.
