WASHINGTON (AP) - Activists at a conservative political forum Saturday were snapping up boxes of waffle mix depicting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as a racial stereotype on its front and wearing Arab-like headdress on its top flap.

The product, Obama Waffles, was meant as political satire, said Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, two writers from Franklin, Tenn., who created the mix. They sold it for $10 a box from a rented booth at the Values Voter Summit sponsored by the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council.

Republican Party stalwarts Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney were among speakers at the forum, which officials said drew 2,100 activists from 44 states.

While Obama Waffles takes aim at Obama's politics by poking fun at his public remarks and positions on issues, it also plays off the image of the classic pancake-mix icon Aunt Jemima, which has been widely criticized as a demeaning stereotype. Obama is portrayed with popping eyes and big, thick lips as he stares at a plate of waffles and smiles broadly.

Placing Obama in Arab-like headdress recalls the false rumor that he is a follower of Islam, though he is actually a Christian.

On the back of the box, Obama is depicted in stereotypical Mexican dress, including a sombrero, above a recipe for "Open Border Fiesta Waffles" that says it can serve "4 or more illegal aliens." The recipe includes a tip: "While waiting for these zesty treats to invade your home, why not learn a foreign language?"

All Americans should support the Obamessiah, even though he may be a black muslim Marxist with no visible qualification for the office. If you do not, the only possible reason is a character flaw on your part. So stop that bitter clinging to your guns and your racist religion, and get on board the DUmmy train!

Or, have you always been aware how prevalent it is but hoped it would remain in the closet, so to speak?

I don't think Obama needs to address it at this stage, but for anyone else, including us, to deny the reality that racism and bigotry lies at the heart of this election is, IMO, negligent.

It is even at the heart at the fundie movement.

I've been screaming it from the rooftops, not allowing racists to cloak it in their right-wing brand of christianity, in the smear campaigns of "he's a muslim," the pledge lie, "there's just something about him..."

BULLSHIT - Just say you don't want to vote for him -- and that the idea of him WINNING - terrifies you because he's BLACK!!!

I say GOOD if they are coming out into the open about it. It NEEDS to be brought out into the open. Allowing them to stay in the shadows is what is dangerous.

They are indeed very dangerous, especially with Palin in the mix.

We can't hide from this. They HATE being all "politically correct" and not saying what they want to say; that's usually left up to the "librul pussies."

No, let them say what they want to say. Let the world see their racist, hypocritical, ignorant, Limbaugh-loving asses for what they are.

Pathetic excuses for humans who disgrace Jesus and Christianity. They are NOT Americans, they are not patriotic.

BTW, the creationism issue....all of the fundie-related shit, comes down to racism which, of course, is based on fear.

4. I truly believe the only reason this race is close is because

won't vote for Obama -- 'there's just something about him' -- 'he has no experience' - crap like that, AND those who claim a falsehood, you correct them with the truth, and they go "yeah, but..." and move onto the next falsehood. Yep,you just keep on shouting racisim until your head explodes because you know what idiots...no one is listening.
You had to trot it out against Hillary supporters to insure the nomination and in doing so played it too early and too much.

If Obama was running for President with the political philosophy of Ronald Reagan I would be fighting millions of Conservatives to be the first in line to vote for him.

Of course at that point the true racists in this country would be calling him an "Uncle Tom","Oreo",House N......" and worse.

The country doesn`t fall for it anymore and that is why Obama is sliding to perhaps a Mondale or Dukakis finish.
His skin color doesn`t matter,his angry socialism does.
