Russia Says Donald Trump's Election Win 'Useful for Us'

Quote
Vladimir Putin ally Dmitry Medvedev has suggested the U.S. presidential election result would serve Russia's interests in its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Medvedev served as president between 2008 and 2012 and is now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council. Over the course of the war in Ukraine, he has pushed anti-Western rhetoric, often issuing threats to Kyiv's allies about Moscow's nuclear capability.

Around the time of Trump's victory speech early Tuesday morning, Medvedev posted on Telegram his response to the election night.

Without directly congratulating the Republican candidate, Medvedev referred to how there was a "furious bipartisan anti-Russian consensus on Capitol Hill."

"But Trump has one quality that is useful for us—as a businessman to the core, he hates spending money on … idiotic allies, stupid charity projects and voracious international organizations," he said, seemingly referring to global support for Ukraine.

Harris level word salad there, carefully picking bits and pieces trying to make the empty plate look aesthetically pleasing, while slapping a "Russia, Russia, Russia" headline at the top.

Yup, next four years are still going to suck.  The propaganda, misinformation, and division will continue, probably at even higher levels than before.

Of course it's useful to Russia and Putin. It'll dry up Zelenskiy's cash cow and the kick backs coming back to Hunter Biden and 'the Big Guy'.

Duh.

Elections have consequences, leftists.

1. The Zelensky-is-corrupt narrative - e.g. the ludicrous claim that he has two yachts on the Black Sea - is BS. The claims that Ukraine is the most corrupt nation on Earth and that Ukrainians are Nazis are similarly ludicrous, and probably similarly sourced.

2. What the US and US allies actually have sent to Ukraine is military equipment and ammunition, which have cost Russia dearly. It will take Russia a decade or two to reequip and retrain to what it was in December 2021.

Further, those hundreds of thousands of dead and maimed military-aged Russian men won't be working Russian factories and farms. Replacing them will also take 2 or 3 decades, and the economic impact during that time will be enormous. Ukraine will also suffer, obviously, but if they are still free, they will probably fare better than Russia.

3. Contrary to Ukraine-Haters' hopes (if the shoe doesn't fit, just don't try it on), I do not think Trump will betray a people fighting valiantly for freedom from a genocidal tyrant. Further, I think Trump will remember how Munich 1938 turned out.

I think the possibility of Trump sending jets and bombers over into Russia is on the table.  Not boots on the ground, but strategic, fool around and find out strikes to remind Putin there's a firm believer in "peace through superior firepower" back in the White House.

IIRC, there was one of those rumors about Trump telling Putin privately something along the lines of "we know where your nice houses are, it would be a shame if there were air strikes called on them".  Russia is interested in sowing chaos and lies, I don't think they really wanted Trump to win.

I don't think Trump would or should send American troops, on the ground or in the air. What I think Trump might do is give Ukraine the go-ahead to use US-supplied munitions, e.g. HIMARS in Russian territory if Putin doesn't back down (what "back down" might mean, ).
