i loved the part where the little five year old girl kissed Trig Palin on the cheek..
which is what's so special about Down Syndrome children; they are absolutely guileless and charming. Ive told this story a few times, but my older daughter had a DS friend in elementary school in Carollton, Texas by the name of Gift.
she was much bigger and older than my daughter or the other classmates, but she was impossible not to love. the other kids had to help corral her every day cause she wanted to hug everyone she met, and she would burst into song and fits of giggles.
the teacher must have had the patience of a saint, but the rest of the kids watched out for Gift and i was amazed the school had her in the mainstream classes. but she wanted to be there and was doing ok..
