The Racist Roots of many planks in the Conservative Movement

Advertisements [?]Edited on Wed Aug-13-08 08:42 PM by ck4829

You might be surprised, you might not. Either way, I hope it makes for some interesting reading.

So, I've decided to take a good and long look at the conservative movement and see how many things associated with them are associated with racist ideologies and groups, and this is what I found out.

"Barack HUSSEIN!!!! Obama" - This is obvious xenophobia and bigotry, it does not get any more cut and dried than that. Most of us know Muslims, some of you reading this may be a Muslim, and we all know that this attack is nothing more than "fear of the foreign sounding guy."  Muslim is a race?  Gee, I thought it was a religion!!

Christian Right - Publicly, this fanatic faction of the Conservative Movement and Republican Party was formed in response to Roe V. Wade. However in private, conversations with right wing leaders such as Paul Weyrich have suggested that the formation of the Christian Right was actually quite sinister. According to Weyrich, the wheels for the Christian Right were set in motion when tax exemption was denied for Bob Jones University because of their policy banning anyone who has been in, or even supports, interracial relationships. One should also consider Jerry Falwell's comments supporting segregation, as well as Pat Robertson's comments in support of the Apartheid Regime.  { :lmao:}

Liberal Media - Many decades ago, ultra-conservatives railed that the "Jewish Media" was biased against them, now it's the "Liberal Media" that's biased against them. Does anyone really think that's a coincidence?

Political Correctness - "Politically correct/incorrect" is the death rattle of overt racism. Really now, what exactly is "politically incorrect" about using the n-word or blaming minorities for everything under the sun?

War on Christmas - Do you know the truth about the "War on Christmas" that is proclaimed annually by right leaders and pundits such as Bill O'Reilly? It may very well have roots in Anti-Semitism. An Anti-Semitic tirade, "The International Jew", declared that Jews launched a war on Christmas. It has stuck, and far righters have declared that "someone" has been launching a war on Christmas every year since.

"Welfare Queen" - A staple of welfare reform, without it, welfare "reform" would not be justified. This was also very often by the Reagan Administration in order to crack down on "welfare fraud." Supposedly in this country, we have legions of welfare queens; poor black women having more and more babies in order to get wealthy from welfare. Think about it for a second though, isn't it 'coincidental' that it plays into the crypto-racist's fantasy of poor black women being promiscuous?

So, next time someone talks about Reagan Administration guys letting contras flood crack into the cities and Republicans engaging in campaigns to stop black people from voting; it might not just be a conspiracy theory.

Probably closer to comedy, but I still put it here.   :rotf:

Suck on it, lurking DUmmies.... :censored:

Quote
They don't want to report the dirty little secret: Their chosen party, the Democratic Party, was founded on racist thought. Thomas Jefferson, who cofounded the Democratic Party with Andrew Jackson, said in 1781 that blacks "are inferior to the whites in the endowments of both of body and mind."

The founder of the Republican Party, Abraham Lincoln, lost his life because he pushed for the freedom of blacks and the end of slavery. The Democrats responded in 1865 by founding the KKK to counter the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. These Amendments ended slavery and gave blacks the power to vote.

During the Democratic Convention in 1868, the first grand wizard of the KKK was honored. No Democrats voted for the 14th Amendment to grant citizenship to former slaves and, to this day, the Democrats fail to publicly recognize the party's shameful racism, according to the David Barton's book, "Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White."

More examples of Democrats' racist history:

Democrat President Woodrow Wilson introduced segregation into the federal government. A Republican, Warren G. Harding, killed it.

Democrat Arkansas Gov. Faubus used the National Guard to keep nine black teenagers from going to school with whites in Little Rock. But Republican President Eisenhower used U.S. troops to help the situation.

Democrats endangered the Civil Rights Act of 1964, with strong opposition from Democrat Al Gore's father, who joined 20 other Democrats voting against the Act. Only four Republicans voted no. Republican Senate Minority Leader Everett Dirksen pushed the bill through the Senate.

The Democratic president who signed the bill, Lyndon B. Johnson, wasn't always on board with equal rights.

"These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness," Johnson said in 1957. " Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference."

Democrats are responsible for the Jim Crow laws of the South that targeted and discriminated against blacks, and they continue to push laws that hurt minorities, such as welfare and other programs that enslave the poor and disenfranchised.

It should be no surprise that Obama followed a racist pastor for 20 years. It is unbelievable that Obama had never heard the bombastic Jeremiah Wright launching on white people. Wright likes to call it the "black church" experience. It is not. It is a racist experience, and it must stop for true equality to thrive.

Wright was correct that racism is alive. But what he failed to point out were the devils in the details. The vilest of racists have historically put a "D" behind their name. Just ask Jesse Jackson

I've heard he named himself.

Personally I like Barrak Milhous Obama like Levin named him.  Or, alternatively, if one wishes to stick close to reality, or so-called reality, then I think Barrak Insane Obama i the correct name to go by.

These are planks of the conservative movement?  Methinks this primitive has engaged into much of the wacky tobacky.

Here I thought the modern conservative movement was about individualism, self reliance, limited government, respect for tradition, and the greatest possible amount of freedom for the greatest number of people.

I keep opening these threads expecting to finally see one DUmmie offer a cogent and factually supported argument.  Instead, I always find hate filled screed that wouldn't know reality if it beat it in the face with a stick.

Well you didn't look very hard did you? At least not far past your own stereotypes and prejudices. But for the sake of argument let's pretend you're capable of open minded discussion and actually bright enough to grasp the concepts we'll be exploring.

The only ones that seem to have a problem with his GIVEN name is Obama himself and you on the left. For whatever reason, it's one of those words we're not allowed to say when discussing him. So 40+ years ago his parents gave him the middle name "Hussein", big ****ing deal. There are also plenty of Adolfs, Benitos, Josephs, Roberts (think Mugabe), and Fidels...so what? America is a melting pot...all you have to do is take a look at the members of the US Olympic team to figure that out. Perhaps Barak shouldn't be so sensitive. He should take pride in his name.

Actually, the "Christian Right" was formed a few years before you folks made stabbing babies in the back of the head a right of passage. They originally came over in great big boats to escape religious persecution. Maybe you've heard of them...they're called pilgrims. I'm sure you've read about them on earth day since they were the first Americans to start destroying the planet and raping the habitat of the wise and noble Indians. They were a hell of a lot more "conservative" than we are today.

Quote
Liberal Media - Many decades ago, ultra-conservatives railed that the "Jewish Media" was biased against them, now it's the "Liberal Media" that's biased against them. Does anyone really think that's a coincidence?

This one doesn't even deserve a response...you must have to pound yourself in the head with a  hammer several times a day to come up with this kind of stupid.

Quote
Political Correctness - "Politically correct/incorrect" is the death rattle of overt racism. Really now, what exactly is "politically incorrect" about using the n-word or blaming minorities for everything under the sun?

The last time I heard the "n" word used it was in a rap song and according to you folks blacks can't be racist.

Yeah...I hear it was started by the Illuminati, PNAC, the New World Order and Fred Phelps (oh wait, he's a democrat). If the right is SO antisemitic why has Hamas endorsed Obama?

Quote
"Welfare Queen" - A staple of welfare reform, without it, welfare "reform" would not be justified. This was also very often by the Reagan Administration in order to crack down on "welfare fraud." Wow, your racism is showing! When I think "welfare queen" I don't automatically think "black". Interesting that you do though. For people who try to convince yourselves you're color blind you sure see the world through race colored glasses. YOU on the left, more than anyone else should WANT welfare reform. For every person that abuses the system, that's one less person who has a legitimate need that can be helped. Imagine how much more support you'd have if you had a well-run government program that actually gave people a hand up. I don't have any problem helping people who are willing to help themselves. A single parent (or even a working family with minimum job skills) who works hard but still can't make ends meet, elderly people on a fixed income who need help with their fuel bills in the winter, disabled people. But no one should get something for nothing...not everyone can be CEO of Chrysler but fer cryin' out loud, people CAN pick up trash in their neighborhoods, provide day care so other poor families can work, walk children to and from school, volunteer in classrooms. There's plenty "poor" people can do to contribute to society to pay back the generosity of others.

And this, of course, has nothing to do with anything but is an interesting fairy tale you folks tell yourself. You guys really need some new prejudices...you've been wearing these ones since the 60's.

. That Congress has no power under the Constitution to interfere with or control the domestic institutions of the several States, and that such States are the sole and proper judges of everything appertaining to their own affairs, not prohibited by the Constitution; that all efforts of the Abolitionists or others made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery, or to take incipient steps in relation thereto, are calculated to lead to the most alarming and dangerous consequences; and that all such efforts have an inevitable tendency to diminish the happiness of the people, and endanger the stability and permanence of the Union, and ought not to be countenanced by any friend to our political institutions.

9. That Congress has no power under the constitution to interfere with or control the domestic institutions of the several States, and that such States are the sole and proper judges of everything appertaining to their own affairs not prohibited by the constitution; that all efforts of the abolitionists or others made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery, or to take incipient steps in relation thereto, are calculated to lead to the most alarming and dangerous consequences; and that all such efforts have an inevitable tendency to diminish the happiness of the people and endanger the stability and permanency of the Union, and ought not to be countenanced by any friend of our political institutions.

Resolved, That the foregoing proposition covers, and was intended to embrace, the whole subject of slavery agitation in Congress; and therefore the democratic party of the Union, standing on this national platform, will abide by and adhere to a faithful execution of the acts known as the compromise measures settled by the last Congress—"the act for reclaiming fugitives from service or labor" included; which act, being designed to carry out an express provision of the constitution, cannot, with fidelity thereto be repealed nor so changed as to destroy or impair its efficiency.

Resolved, That the democratic party will resist all attempts at renewing, in congress or out of it, the agitation of the slavery question, under whatever shape or color the attempt may be made.

Quote
Resolved, That we recognize the right of the people of all the Territories, including Kansas and Nebraska, acting through the legally and fairly expressed will of a majority of actual residents, and whenever the number of their inhabitants justifies it, to form a Constitution, with or without domestic slavery, and be admitted into the Union upon terms of perfect equality with the other States
http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=29576
Quote
Reform is necessary to correct the omissions of a Republican Congress and the errors of our treaties and our diplomacy, which has stripped our fellow-citizens of foreign birth and kindred race, re-erasing [re-crossing] the Atlantic from the shield of American citizenship, and has exposed our brethren of the Pacific coast to the incursions of a race not sprung from the same great parent stock, and in fact now by law denied citizenship through naturalization as being unaccustomed to the traditions of a progressive civilization, one exercised in liberty under equal laws; and we denounce the policy which thus discards the liberty-loving German and tolerates the revival of the coolie-trade in Mongolian women for immoral purposes, and Mongolian men held to perform servile labor contracts, and demand such modification of the treaty with the Chinese Empire, or such legislation within constitutional limitations, as shall prevent further importation or immigration of the Mongolian race.

Contrast those pillars of justice from the Democrats with this, from the first Republican presidential platform:
Quote
Reso1ved: That theResolved: Constitution confers upon Congress sovereign powers over the Territories of the United States for their government; and that in the exercise of this power, it is both the right and the imperative duty of Congress to prohibit in the Territories those twin relics of barbarism—Polygamy, and Slavery.
Or this, from 1860:
Quote
9. That we brand the recent reopening of the African slave trade, under the cover of our national flag, aided by perversions of judicial power, as a crime against humanity and a burning shame to our country and age; and we call upon Congress to take prompt and efficient measures for the total and final suppression of that execrable traffic
