Manny's primitives told to cease and desist

Oh my.

Apparently one of Manny's primitives was caught doing something primitives do best; basing the "facts" of a story upon what one hopes are the facts, rather than what the facts actually are.

But of course one must admit Skins's primitives do this more than anybody else.

JPR Served With Order to "Cease and Desist"

Not making this up.

As has become fashionable of late, someone here posted some “fact” involving the CFEE that they saw on some blog, because, you know, we don’t know who to trust anymore so random crap on some blog is as good as anything else, amirite?!

The totally-factual story, or the at-least-we-should-be-able-to-discuss-it-and-judge-for-ourselves story, involved a person unconnected to the CFEE, who really seems to be totally unconnected to the CFEE, and the story was unflattering.

So said CFEE-unconnected person hired a lawyer to ask sites to take these bullcrap stories down. They apparently all link to the same source – some shitty blog that I’ve never heard of, and that blog’s already taken the story down. So we took ours down, too.

(No, I’m not providing details of the story – it’s had enough exposure.)

But FREEDOM, Manny, FREEDOM!

Yes, we Americans have the freedom to do silly things, like drunk skeet shooting, lighting farts, and posting serious allegations based on some guy’s blog. But unless someone gets real convincing about the merits of doing the latter, it ain’t happening on JPR anymore; it’s always been against our standards, and now we’ll make extra-sure to police it. Why?

1. It can hurt innocent people. In this case, someone had to shell out for a lawyer with a stylish letterhead, and that can’t be cheap. And opening a pdf from a law firm didn’t exactly give me that warm and special feeling, either.

2. It puts JPR in jeopardy. Its not like we’re getting bags of Benjamins from the CFEE, you know. The last thing we need is some expensive crap happening because someone here parrots some insane crap that some dude wrote it on his blog. I’d much prefer to get the shit sued out of us over some real issue, thank you. If I die with my boots on, I want one on firm ground and the other up some Third-Way or Republican backside, not both half-sunk into watery manure.

3. It makes us look like fools. Think back to the reporting on Rove’s imminent indictment. Any second now, it’s in the bag. Yep.

4. Bullshit is not what good Liberals/Progressives/Leftists do. We are what we are precisely because we believe in truth, rigorous and tested truth. Divining the “truth” by gut feel is what the other folks do, and it’s why all turns to shit whenever they govern.

Please. Everyone’s angry, and we should be. But let’s use the better parts of our noggins, and try to be a little hard-nosed about posting stuff that we can be proud of. It’s not like there’s a lack of well-sourced material regarding these same thieving Scheisskopfs that shows their depravity and corruption – let’s stick to that stuff.

Thank you.

2. You are 100% correct

Too many posts are placed here because the poster hopes they are true. When posting stuff with no evidence that the post is factual, the poster should identify it as unconfirmed.

3. There has been an amazing amount of bullshit posted the past few days.

by all appearances, the ‘extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof’ policy has been abandoned by the moderators. Imo the situation will greatly improve by putting it back on the table.

5. Unsubstantiated claims are exactly what Joesphy McCarthy did

and ruined many many lives in the process.  Yes, I’m angry and digusted by this election and the Gov’t.  However, it serves no purpose to repost something if it hasn’t be substantiated or if it is going to harm someone in the crossfire.

I am going to focus on postive things like something to be thankful for every day until Thanksgiving.

6. That Rove Indictment story came from Jason Leopold…

…I remember I suffered some drop in street cred after reposting it.  Good cautionary tale.  Lucky for him he landed on both feet at Vice News.

I dunno why primitives do this, letting the Bostonian Drunkard off the hook.

The Leopudlian journalist wrote the story, true, but the Bostonian Drunkard was the one who decided to run with it, and hence was responsible for all the embarrassment, humiliation, and loss of public confidence in the credibility of Skins's island.

If the Bostonian Drunkard had kept a lid on it, nothing would've happened.

<<<knows where the buck stops.

10. If it's just your opinion, say so.

When it comes to our opinions, we are all wrong once in a while.  We need to discuss our opinions and be open to facts that may differ from our opinions.  The point is to find out whether our opinions have a basis in fact or not.  But we need to be careful to let people know when we are expressing opinions.  We don’t want other people to think we are stating proven facts when in fact we are expressing opinions.

Most of what we talk about here is opinion.  That’s my opinion anyway.

Opinion v. proven fact.  Not the same thing necessarily.

Theory v. proven fact.  Not the same thing necessarily.

11. Cease and desist from who and where, Manny?

There are far too many of us here.

We follow rules, we do our level damned best. All of us.

Who did JPR get a cease and desist from!?

Yeah, Manny needs to be open and honest and give all the facts, leaving out not a one.

The People have a right to know.

12. Meh! More attempts to silence people. I've considered getting a 'cease

and desist’ order against certain individuals. But hey, if you post on the internet a lot of morons are going to try to smear you.

Whoever this is they need to grow up.  And btw, we need to know who it is.

Who is the lawyer/law firm who obviously must be contacting THOUSANDS of blogs demanding they stop saying bad things about them?

We need to know who this very sensitive person is AND their attorney  (I have my own theory on this) or we are likely to continue to ‘defame’ them as many of US have been defamed, inadvertently.

So, is this a public figure, and seriously Manny, who is the ‘legal’ rep for this person?

With zero info on this, I say it is a faux claim and an attempt to silence people.

Won’t work, no one is going to stfu about the criminals who have taken over this country.

Could you please post the names of the ‘defamed’ but more importantly, the lawyers involved in this?

This should be public record.

<<<when running the scamdy.com web-site, once got a "cease and desist" letter from an "attorney" for the primitive woman bothered by cold weather, the "TroubleInWinter" primitive.

It was nonsense, of course, and some time thereafter karma caught up with her, when she was terminalized in an automobile accident.

One does dishonest things, sooner or later it catches up with one.

I'm assuming it was some "news" story denigrating Messalina Agrippina, in which the writer stated "hopes" as "facts."

This happens more often on Skins's island, but Manny's primitives aren't immune from it either.

Yeah, right! How many of these sanctimonious morons cheered when frivolous false accusation forced on Sarah Palin a choice between personal bankruptcy or resigning from being Governor of Alaska?
