exindy (6,464 posts) 23. As one of the instigators, I feel a clarification is in order.Much of the discourse stemmed from a post I made in that other thread. The OP posited that Reagan was a great man and should be held in high esteem for bringing down the wall. <snipped out a big chunk>His legacy is the establishment of today -- the Kasich, Romney, Bush, Clinton (either one), etc. The one where red and blue mean nothing. Green is the only political policy. My personal feeling is that he should be dug up and reburied facedown. You ignored all of the post and took issue with my facedown suggestion, ie: The man is dead. No one is asking you to agree or respect what he did as President. But have a little respect for the fact that he passed.. To which I responded: The man was a terrible man when he was alive. Now he's a dead terrible man. Dying doesn't add quality. As I thought about it I realized that some people may not know the significance of a face down burial. In some cultures it is believed that evil people will return to wreak more evil on the innocents. Face down supposedly prevents that. I don't actually believe in evil per se but why take a chance? USNRET1988 pointed out that everyone dies and so death shouldn't be used as a measure of respect. He then pointed out some other examples of people who died who deserve no respect even tho they died. (added) There was no comparison to the accomplishments of Hitler vs Reagan other than they both managed to quit breathing. So, what say you about the gipper? Got any good things you might lay at his altar?
Uh, ..... I don't understand the thrust of the argument. Being familiar with the players involved, that doesn't concern me. So, no comment.
