8. In my case I weight more than I used to. That's the main problem.

There are cultures out there where people sit on the floor, and they don't have the same problems. It's got a lot to do with how sedentary too many of us become as we get older.

7. It will change if you practice. I'm 65. My dog had 10 puppies, and I would often

be squatted or sitting on a low step with 2 puppies -- one in each hand. I would have to push up with my knees to stand up without using a hand to push myself. After a week or two, I was much stronger at standing up by just pushing with my knees. Now some of us are in line for knee replacements....thankfully I'm not there yet. If there is damage to your knees that exercise won't help, then don't hurt yourself!

If you do not have other damage but only weakness and stiffness, then strength training will help. Vitamin C, E and lots of Turmeric will definitely help.

Knee replacement?  Bull.  Take a pill, you worn out husk.

Sitting on their asses all day weakens the muscles, bones and the will to move.

They want to reap the rewards of moving, without actually moving.  Sort of a microcosm of their entire lives all wrapped up into one little lesson.

They deny reality with their mouths in the choices they make, but reality doesn't give a shit in this case- the fruit of their laborless living is what they reap.

DU-folk couldn't find an angle from which they could blame Bush and Reagan? Their lack of creativity is disappointing.

Guess what, DU folk? On just about any weekend I could take you to places where 60- and 70- somethings walk and/or run 10Ks, half marathons, and marathons. They took care of themselves, or they started to do so several years ago and did the hard work to get where they are. Or I could take some of you DU-folk to a local gym at a reasonable busy time, and if you could take your eyes off the hot 20- and 30-somethings, you'd see some 50-, 60- and 70-somethings doing exactly what you complain of not being able to do. Growing up, I saw people doing hard work in farm fields in their 60s and 70s. The couch-potato lifestyle is easy early on, but exacts a price later on.
