Another General Election cycle, another Democratic Party loss.
How many State and Local losses is it going to take before everyone in the leadership at the DNC is fired?

I'm a Cleveland Browns fan...and that is relevant! Do you know how much it takes for me to lose heart?

Retain the Governorship in Kentucky? No, sorry, we're going to elect someone who has promised to throw hundreds of thousands off of Medicaid.

Win back the State Senate in Virginia? No, sorry, we're going to re-elect a former shipyard owner whose company was convicted of defrauding the US Navy out of millions.

What the hell does it matter that we can have a progressive, sane, thoughtful and intelligent President, when my local School Board wants to teach that the earth is 6,000 years old, Creationism is just as valid a theory as "gravity", and global warming is just because god is hugging the earth a little tighter?

What the hell does it matter to protest against police brutality in the streets, when our local elected officials believe that law enforcement has been too restrained?

What the hell difference does it make that we have a president that wants to increase the minimum wage to $12 or $15 an hour when our local leaders think that we just ought to be damn thankful that the wealthy condescend to give us some crumbs from their table?

If this doesn't change prior to November 2016, we're going to wake up with a President Cruz, Trump or Carson, Republican majorities in the House and Senate, and Republican control of 47 State Governments.

There was a post a couple of days ago asking if we were watching the implosion of the Republican Party. How stupid does that post sound today?

Being a local Democrat is like watching Titanic on a continuous loop and rooting for the ship!

The entire leadership of the DNC needs to go, and they need to go now. In fact, I would have fired them all as soon as the polls in KY and VA closed last night. Whatever it is that they are doing is NOT WORKING!

$15 Minimum Wage fails at the ballot box in Portland, Maine
Question #1 called for a raise in the minimum wage to $15 per hour. The final results from yesterday's voting:

Yes: 42%
No: 58%

The measure had been promoted and put on the ballot by the Maine Green Party. I was one of the yes voters and I was very disappointed in the lack of support from the Democratic Party in Maine.

I'm sure this is not the last we'll hear of this.

Bernie Sanders is calling for a $15 minimum wage as part of his campaign and Fight for $15 will continue to push for this as a movement.

GOP keeps control of Virginia state Senate despite gun control spending

Republicans kept control of the Virginia state Senate on Tuesday despite millions from billionaire Michael Bloomberg's gun control advocacy group backing Democrats.

The victories mean that the Republicans retain control of both houses of the state legislature. The party remains an obstacle to Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe as he tries to tighten gun laws and expand Medicaid in the state, a battleground in the 2016 presidential elections.

Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety advocacy group had made the Virginia races an election focus. It spent $2.2 million in ads for two Democratic Senate candidates in a bid to have the party take control of the 40-seat chamber.

I don't suppose it's occurred to the primitives that maybe, just maybe, they don't have a hand on the pulse of the American public; that maybe, just maybe, things the primitives think are important, aren't important to the American public.

7. Part of the problem is that we have great depths of support, but no breadth.

In the major cities, we run up the score in incredible ways, but we lose all rural areas by the biggest margins we ever have and there are a lot of states that are predominantly rural and within bigger states there are a lot of districts out there that we are losing consistently 55-45 or 60-40 that had been competitive seats back in the day. Our support in these areas has withered at the vine because we make no effort at all to communicate with these voters that the Democratic Party can be inclusive of them.

They are so buried in an echo chamber of desire for government handouts that they can`t even begin to fathom that the vast majority of the country still has some level of pride to not live every waking moment obsessed with smoking dope and getting freebies.

I assume this tantrum-rant is due to some election outcomes? Geesh! Living where I do I'm rather accustomed to being out-voted, but even 20 years ago I wouldn't have melted down like that! If I had I would have been a desiccated puddle a decade and more ago!

No, franksolich, it hasn't.

And , no, franksolich, the primitives are too busy making up thier lists of enemies to be destroyed after they seize power to bother looking into a reasonable and reliable poll on American sentiment.

There have been several articles lately...by liberal news outlets talking about how Obama is going to leave the Democrat Party in worse shape than when he took office.

The losses the Dems have sustained since he took office aren't just at the national or state level...they go all the way down to county and city leadership.

What's a shame aabout all of the Republican gains is that our leadership in DC is too hell bent on destroying the very base that has given them the majority...instead of using those wins as a hammer to pound the Dems into mush.

It's not just the primitives frank...it's all of DC on both sides of the aisle that are out of touch with the American public.

While the Beltway crowd has as their priority things like immigration reform...this minimum wage crap and gay "rights"...the American people and what concerns them...in poll after poll...rank those three things at the bottom of their needs to get solved list.

You know, I would give the depth of DUmmie support at 3 inches at most.  DUmmies are fickle and easily led.  For the most part, they only care about marijuana legalization and free abortions.

Everything else is is only a reflection of what they see on sit-coms. Change the sit-com and change the issue.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

No, it's not single payer, but so many people were being covered for the first time in their lives. And to throw it all away just because they hate a black president.

Well, Republicans do hack the electronic voting machines to get the outcome they want. Except for president in '08 and '12. Those were honest elections, according to DUmmies.
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Suck on this DUmmies: from local school boards to governorships & everything in between, we control the majority across the country. That's called grassroots and that's where long term, permanent change comes from. We've found a way around your bullshit control of the courts & media (well, you are losing control of that slowly but surely). These are the people who will go from local to state to federal offices. BTW, controlling school boards is where you guys gender fluid persons are going to lose your grip on the minds of our children.

It's not just Kentucky, DUmmies.

San Francisco sheriff known for 'sanctuary city' defense loses re-election bid

Sheriff Mirky is/was a MESS! He got convicted, a few years ago, of domestic violence. That meant he should not have carried his service weapon. Recently, he set up to take a requalification test, despite his status. The range master asked a superior if this was OK by CA law. The range master got "transferred" to a much less desirable duty. Then Sheriff Mirky failed the test.

And it was Sheriff Mirky who interpreted SF's long-existing sanctuary policy such that cooperation with the Feds on illegals, even recently released felons, ceased. Whether or not the illegal who killed that young woman last spring/summer did so intentionally, he would not have been wandering the streets of SF under Sheriff Mirky's predecessors.

Sheriff Mirky was such a stench that even SF's voters wouldn't reelect him. Whether his replacement will be THAT much better, I don't know. But rid goodance for now!

Cindie, I'm not trying to steal your thunder, just riffing off of what you wrote:

Conservatism is an individual philosophy, it's high time it is treated and taught that way again.  A group cannot be free, only individuals can.

The Republican Party, for better or worse, is the best current vehicle to spread individual freedom.  Fellow Caver Former Lurker has said it best when she told all of us that if we want to see the democrat lite element run out of the Republican party, we need to get involved on the local/state level and make it happen.  What that means is we need to get our asses busy and make the changes that need to be made.  Milquetoast conservatism is a loser, it loses every time it is tried.  That won't change until it's forced to change and that won't happen until enough people get off of their asses and make it happen.

The same goes for our communities and our schools.  Retaking our communities (city council, school board, etc) is where it all starts...

For those of you determined to vote third party in the upcoming 2016 General Election to punish the RNC, I think it best if you reflect for a moment and consider the local victories which will push up from the States and into DC.  The local GOP, especially TEA Party backed candidates, have been on a serious streak since 2010 - don't handicap them by sitting on your hands next year.
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

Glad you voted. I know a guy who sat out the 2008 election because McCain wasn't against stem cell research. According to this guy, as a pro-lifer he is accountable to God for his vote, and it had to be "all or nothing." Well, that attitude on the part of all too many conservatives gave us Obama, Obamacare, Kagan, Sotomayor, gay marriage, the redefining of Freedom of Religion to be only what happens inside a church building on Sunday mornings, and as far as abortion and abortifacients, well--even the Little Sisters of the Poor are now expected to provide "reproductive healthcare" to employees. None of that would have happened if McCain had been elected.

I haven't been particularly happy with the way the Republican leadership in the House and Senate seem to have bent over for Obama and the Dems since We the People gave them to the Republicans, but there is no way I wouldn't vote. And as long as the Republicans are the only viable alternative to the increasingly radical Democrat Party, I will vote Republican.
