If you go into a Rite Aid to buy a lighter...

...in this case, it was a BIC lighter...be sure to bring your ID with you. (...and bathe, too.)

I just got carded trying to purchase that lighter, but my ID was out in my car.(In other words, it's expired and there's a warrant out for your arrest.)

I pointed out to the automoton at the checkout that "I am 60 years old, why are you asking me for ID? Do I look like I'm 12 years old?"(It's called the rules, asshole.)

Clerk sez, "it is corporate policy to require ID for the purchase of smoking products," then he says "in order for you to not get any more stressed out, I will cancel this transaction" (which, btw, included several other non "smoking products"), to which I said "you've already caused me undue stress, and wasted my time, with your ridiculous zero tolerance bullshit policy. And **** Rite Aid" as I walked out of the store.(...leaving the scent of stale beer, spittle, burning chemicals, and your shorts behind, I'm sure)

I went to a Walgreens, bought a lighter, asked them if they had ever heard of carding people who buy lighters, clerk said "never."(I guess Walgreen's is, like, coooool, mannnnnnnn)

So now, according to Rite Aid, a lighter is a "smoking product." Has this happened to anybody else?(What else do you use a lighter for, other than your farts?)

I know that ultimately, this is a trivial event, but I was caught off-guard by it, and aggravated by this ****ing corporate rule which treats its customers like children.(Said the person who expects the government to take care of him)

Suffice to say, after over 35 years of being a loyal, regular customer at this very same Rite Aid location, I will never set foot in or spend another penny at any Rite Aid, ever again.(Bull and shit, liberal. When generic cheetos go on sale you'll be there as stinky as ever.)

Later, after cooling down a bit, I called the store and spoke - in a civil tone - to the manager, but she kept talking over me as I explained why, after 35+ years of being a loyal customer I would never spend another penny there, but she just hung up on me.(Because you're a rude asshole and they don't want or need your lint-covered nickels, you turd)

**** the Corporate Nanny State and **** Rite Aid. I hope they finally do go bankrupt.(over a lighter. I hope you light yourself on fire and burn to death slowly)

We've all been in the drugstore behind assholes like this: scummy, stinky, bedraggled, and bewildered at the world that they have to occasionally venture into when their drug supplies run low.

If you're a DUmmy, and you cannot get Skittles to muster up even the slightest outrage, then you should probably just let go of it.

But zero tolerance is OK when a kid chews a pop tart into the shape of a scary gun, right?

Trying to buy a G. D. lighter doesn't give DUmmies the right to ruin everyone's day that is within earshot.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Dick's Sporting Goods asked for my ID when I was buying an archery target.

They said Dick's policy is to ID for any product that might be used in connection with a weapon.

I left and bought the same thing cheaper at WalMart.

When I first met my wife, we went into a 7-11 to buy some wine and beer. She was 20, I was 24. I got carded and she didn't.

I think Arizona requires an ID for buying simple things like spray paint, model glue and a few other things that liberals use for illicit purposes.

Thundley if the clerk knew anything, he/she probably wouldn't have been working at a 7-11.

Back then jobs like that were starter jobs for young kids and college students, not career choices for DUmmies.

Good point. Never saw a 7-11 back in the day, they didn't have them where I grew up. Never saw one until I moved to Colorado in 2006 and well....yeah.

Wasting your breath.  They will NEVER, EVER realize that.  They're incapable of it.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

When I asked for the senior discount at a restaurant and they didn't card me, it hurt.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

They gave me a senior's discount at Arby's and I didn't ask for it and they didn't ask my age. They just assumed I was an old fart.    :old:

Sounds like Skittles once (or currently does) had a job as a clerk. Clerks don't make such policies, nor (for that matter) do shift or store managers. If GRD really was so exercised that (s)he couldn't set the purchase aside, go to the car and get his/her ID ((s)he had a credit card by not a DL? really?), why take out his/her native petty A-holery on a lowly clerk (who could be fired if caught not following the policy)?

Now, why might Rite Aid have such a policy? There are organized groups who literally exist to try to ensnare retail establishments that sell cigarettes and liquor by sending in under-age young men and women to try to buy beer or cigarettes or whatever. I'm guessing several Rite Aid stores got caught through some clerks' misjudgment, and Rite Aid is either doing more than is legally required so as to boost clerks' vigilance, or some regulatory agency may have imposed this on Rite Aid in that state.
