It's 1857... again.
« on: July 04, 2015, 08:23:48 AM »
On March 6, 1857, Chief Justice Roger B. Taney read the majority opinion of the Court, which stated that slaves were not citizens of the United States and, therefore, could not expect any protection from the Federal Government or the courts. The opinion also stated that Congress had no authority to ban slavery from a Federal territory. This decision moved the nation a step closer to Civil War.

In 2015 the USSC handed down several decisions that continues to tear the country apart.

*The court decided in Glossip v. Gross that states may use a drug linked to apparently botched executions to carry out death sentences,

*The court decided in Obergefell v. Hodges that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.

*The court decided in King v. Burwell that tax subsidies were being provided lawfully in three dozen states that had decided not to run marketplaces for insurance coverage.

*In Arizona State Legislature v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, the court ruled that voters had the power to strip elected lawmakers of their authority to draw district lines.

*The court decided in Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. Abercrombie & Fitch Stores that Samantha Elauf was not required to make a specific request for a religious accommodation to wear a hijab when applying for a position at a children’s clothing store owned by the company.

These cases have driven a wedge into American society being further enflamed by violent rhetoric from the left all the way to the President of the United States, who acts more and more like a Leftist demigod than leader of the free world.

US Senator pushes amendment to shift power back to states
| July 3, 2015 | Updated: July 3, 2015 3:22pm

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi has introduced a constitutional amendment to redistribute power from the federal government to the states.

The resolution by the Wyoming Republican would give states the authority to repeal any federal regulation or law, which would provide states with the ability to act in the best interest of their citizens.

Enzi says states and businesses face thousands of rules, regulations and unfunded mandates from the federal government every year.

He says they have few options other than a backlogged court system to fight the rules and regulations.

The American Civil War was about States Rights. The ability to pass their own laws and the fear that the new Republican President, Abraham Lincoln, would strip them of the right to own slaves drove the US into Civil War.

Ironic that now the Democrat Party is the party of big Federal Government dictating every action of the states. Well, maybe not when one realizes the Democrats have been completely taken over by the socialists and communist hard core left. These new Dems see the world and people as too stupid to run their owns lives and would have everyone under the yoke of repressive government regulations.

Call us slaves if you will, but the new Dems want nothing more than total control of your lives. Freedom to do what the government want you to.

2. Has this idiot ever read the constitution
?

The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) to the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791.[1] It expresses the principle of federalism, which undergirds the entire plan of the original Constitution, by stating that the federal government possesses only those powers delegated to it by the Constitution. All remaining powers are reserved for the states or the people.

DUmpmonkies are all for States Rights on things like Marijuana use. Not so much on Religious freedom.

12. States Rights works very well for the NRA. And the reason so many people are getting shot and die.

So many get shot and die in Democratic shit holes like New York, Chicago, Philly, Detroit, etc etc etc... AND now we are seeing illegal aliens, deported many times with numerous felony charges against them killing innocent women in the city streets! Sure- the NRA and 'loose' gun laws in one of the most restrictive gun states cause that to happen.

26. Given how many state legislatures and governorships Republicans have taken over, talk of amendments from Republicans is actually a scary thought.

Think about that.

If Muslim women have a right to wear a hood over their head, why can't the KKK wear a hood?

Also in 1857, we had a horrible ineffective Democrat President (Buchanan) who despite appearing highly-qualified on paper, only managed to piss off everybody to the point of being on the brink of war.
